Patent number: 4173800Abstract: A sanitary syphon gas trap particularly adapted for use in association with squat-type water closets, which are installed at floor grade level, which trap has an inlet arm and an outlet arm of circular cross-section, and an angularly disposed seal arm in rebent relationship to said inlet arm intermediate the inlet and outlet. The seal arm has an arcuate non-circular cross-section whose area is less than the flow area of said inlet arm and whose juncture with the outlet arm defines a flow-fall which is out of the main stream of the flow path between the seal arm and the outlet arm. A downwardly directed water jet from the water closet initiates a Venturi effect of high velocity flow in the seal arm for waste discharge.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1978Date of Patent: November 13, 1979Assignee: Josam Manufacturing Co.Inventors: George J. Flegel, Roger L. Mielbeck, Patrick J. Pizarek

Patent number: 4130907Abstract: A squat-type water closet self-supporting in environment of installation, especially in a poured or pre-cast slab-type floor, without need of boxing, is provided by a bowl casting having a horizontal cast flange for anchored support on a rough slab or other environmental structure, and a flush rim casting gasketed to a seat on and defining with the bowl top margin a flushing water passage and peripheral bowl-flushing slot; the rim opening being level with floor and defining the visible closet opening; a vitreous coat and/or full porcelain enamel being applied to wetted and visible surfaces; the two members being shaped for casting without coring; and flashing-securing means being optional.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1977Date of Patent: December 26, 1978Assignee: Josam Manufacturing Co.Inventors: George J. Flegel, Roger L. Mielbeck, Patrick J. Pizarek

Patent number: 4074530Abstract: In a hot gas engine, for example, of the Stirling cycle type, having a displacer member and associated working piston member, normally moving in respective cylinder spaces with a selected phase relation and having controllable torque output in magnitude and direction, or a plurality of associated displacer piston pairs, the displacer drive affords changeable control of displacer stroke length between a zero or minimum stroke length and a maximum and phase reversal, with or corresponding to a torque requirement of direction and magnitude between a minimum and maximum, thereby to minimize windage type energy losses due to displacer motion at times of low power or low torque demand, and also with displacer stroke length control, controlling torque and output direction.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1976Date of Patent: February 21, 1978Assignee: Josam Manufacturing Co.Inventor: Norman E. Polster

Patent number: 3994136Abstract: A multi-cylinder self-starting hot gas engine according to the present invention consists of two parallel pairs of opposed displacer cylinders with respective displacer members mounted for movement therein and two parallel pairs of opposed work cylinders disposed parallel to the displacer cylinders and having respective pistons arranged to reciprocate therein; each work cylinder communicating with a respective displacer cylinder to provide a cold end chamber. First transmission connects the displacers for synchronized movement offset in phase within the cylinders and a second transmission interconnects the pistons for synchronized movement offset in phase within the cylinders. An output drive is connected to the pistons.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 1975Date of Patent: November 30, 1976Assignee: Josam Manufacturing Co.Inventor: Norman E. Polster

Patent number: 3993102Abstract: A plumbing cleanout fitting combination, of a body having a plug-closed access opening provided with a female standard tapered pipe thread, and a somewhat counter-bore-like seal seat around the outer margin of the opening; an elastomeric compressible gasket or seal ring in the seat; and a plug having a shoulder at its outer end to sealingly compress the ring and, on its inner end, an opening-engaging male thread, of pitch corresponding to the female thread, the male being either a standard straight or modified tapered pipe thread, diametrically proportioned to the female to enable the plug to be screwed in to seal without thread interference; whereby the body can accept an optional plug with a male standard tapered pipe thread sealing by tapered thread engagement without sealing gasket.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1974Date of Patent: November 23, 1976Assignee: Josam Manufacturing Co.Inventors: Lewis H. Polster, George J. Flegel

Patent number: 3951441Abstract: A cleanout plumbing fitting with two telescoped cylindrical cast parts, the internal part bearing a split ring lodged in and projecting from a cast-in one-turn helical groove to form a male thread; and the external part bearing three equiangularly spaced elongated elements each having a similar series of notches spaced corresponding to the groove pitch with the series successively offset by one-third pitch, forming an interrupted female thread engaged by the male thread for adjustability of the telescoped parts, the latter advantageous even with a cast male thread.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1974Date of Patent: April 20, 1976Assignee: Josam Manufacturing Co.Inventors: Nicholas G. Scheuer, George J. Flegel

Patent number: 3951172Abstract: Over a threaded plug closed cast metal fitting body joinable to a pipe stub end and at its top periphery bearing an integral single-turn roll male thread, there is telescoped and adjustably supported a housing assembly including a cylindrical plastic housing member, and a metal rim secured on the housing member top end providing a seat for a sealable access cover; the housing member interior over its full height having three integral pilaster-like formations each with a like series of sloped transverse grooves successively offset and spaced and shaped to provide an interrupted female thread engageable with the body male thread, so that by assembly rotation the rim is easily adjustable to be flush with an environment finish surface, for example, of poured concrete in which the fitting is embedded; thereby conducing to ease of installation as well as material, tooling and machine time fabrication costs.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1974Date of Patent: April 20, 1976Assignee: Josam Manufacturing Co.Inventor: George J.
