Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for creating customized products using a product identification device. In some embodiments, the process involves receiving an aggregate order for yearbooks, creating a master list associated with the aggregate order and including single orders, associating at least one number with each single order, manufacturing a first portion of a yearbook for each single order with a first identifier associated with that portion and also being associated with the at least one number, manufacturing a second portion of the yearbook for the single order with a second identifier associated with that portion and also being associated with the at least one number, and combining the first portion with the second portion.

Abstract: A method for embellishment placement is provided. More specifically, an automated method for determining placement of embellishments for an item, such as a jewelry item, is provided. In one embodiment, the method comprises, determining and setting values for parameters, creating offsets along a portion of the item to be embellished, setting points along the offsets, randomizing the points, adding decorative features to the item, and eliminating points based on the parameter values. After points violating the parameter values have been eliminated, the remaining points comprise positions for embellishments.

Abstract: A method and system for converting two-dimensional artwork into three-dimensional models. Data relating to an image is imported and segments of the image are chained into contiguous curves. The contiguous curves together may form loops. Subsets of closed loops are split and created where surfaces of the image are to be created. The closed loops are contoured to create contours. The geometries created are projected onto a surface as an image. Finally, the image is smoothed.

The system further provides an integrated yearbook system management and yearbook production system to enable the production of the yearbook to a printed output. A yearbook server hosts a client site and a client database. The client site is enables the school to plan, create, sell and distribute a yearbook. Further, their system may be used to create the yearbook online. A production server hosts a production database synchronizes with the yearbook server, providing images to the client for use in creating the yearbook, and accepting completed created pages submitted by the school from the yearbook server. The production server translates the created pages into the format to proceed through the regular preparation for production of the yearbook.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a ring (i.e. class, championship, or affiliation) begins by receiving order data specifying a series of personalization elements, such as the addition of text and icon designs. A geometric model for each personalization item is constructed. To assemble text panels, the operating system provides font geometry for a desired TrueType font. Then a set of splines are created from the font geometry and are then tessellated to generate polyline sets of data, which are then spaced and mapped between two boundary curves. The personalization elements are then projected onto one of the model's 3D surfaces. A set of machining instructions for a milling machine is generated by obtaining a set of machining pattern strategies, generating a set of curves, projecting the toolpath onto the surface of the ring to calculate the 3D toolpath, and rotating it to a desired angle.

Abstract: An apparatus and methods for the adjustment of the position of a die in a printing press are disclosed. The apparatus and methods provide for the adjustment of a die frame within a chase. The chase defines a horizontal and a vertical axis. The die frame is slidably secured in a chase to permit movement and adjustment of the die frame in the horizontal and the vertical axis. The die frame may be slidably mounted to one or more vertical guides and one or more horizontal guides to facilitate movement and adjustment in the horizontal and vertical axis.

The register cam permits the selection of alternative configurations that permit the alteration of parameters of the registration without the removal of the register cam from the printing press. The register cam can have one or more arms movably connected to and extending from the body. The one or more arms include at least two faces with each face having a distinct profile such that when an arm is in a first orientation a first face is presented to contact a gripper arm of the printing press and in a second orientation a second face is presented to contact the gripper arm of the printing press.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for manipulating page layouts in a desktop publishing system. The present invention comprises an interactive computer-implemented productivity tool that is fast and easy to use and enhances the productivity of operators of the desktop publishing system. Once a two-page spread has been laid out on the monitor of the desktop publishing system, the present invention provides a number of different methods for manipulating the spreads.

The blank is diecut so as to form a rectangular base section with four sides, with four flaps extending from each of the four sides of the base section. Each flap has a pair of bend scores so that as each flap is folded up and over onto the base section the award recognition package is formed into a thin box which displays the award recognition pin, tack, medallion or the like.

Abstract: A data binder having compression bars forming longitudinal rails and a center channel, flexible posts securing data sheets between compression bars and a retaining slide member embracing the rails to hold the bent over posts in place. Each end of said retaining slide member includes a flare at the end of the center groove for receiving the post. The guide groove facilitates insertion of the post into the retaining slide member.
