Abstract: A dry ice substitute that mimics the size and density of dry ice for use in dose mapping to ensure proper amounts of gamma irradiation. The substitute comprises a first substance of a first shape and density and a second substance of a second shape and density, the two substances combined in a ration to yield a product with an overall density substantially equivalent to that of dry ice.
Abstract: A radiation dose mapping apparatus is provided in which a dosimeter is removably positioned in a center position in a semisolid mixture within a product container. The semisolid mixture serves as a product substitute and should have approximately the same density as the product that would normally be placed within the product container. The apparatus is used to determine the dose of radiation received in the center position of the product container under conditions that emulate actual irradiation of serum or other product.
Abstract: A method of dose mapping that simulates actual product irradiation conditions utilizing a semisolid to fix dosimeter (18) inside product containers (14) and a dry ice substitute (16) to mimic the density of dry ice. The method comprising the steps of fixing dosimeter (18) in a semisolid mixture inside product containers (14) packed with a dry ice substitute (16) and irradiating. The results are then calculated and analyzed to produce an accurate dose map.
