  • Publication number: 20170334343
Abstract: A terrain viewing apparatus is provided to enable greater viewability of environmental conditions around a vehicle. A housing of the terrain viewing apparatus may include a lighting apparatus for emitting light and illuminating environmental conditions during nighttime, dusk, or adverse weather conditions. The housing may further include a reflecting apparatus to increase an operator's ability to view environmental conditions outside the vehicle. One or more joints may enable the housing to be adjustable with respect to the vehicle. An internal joint may enable the reflecting apparatus to be adjustable with respect to the housing. The lighting apparatus may receive power from the vehicle. The lighting and reflecting apparatuses may be electrically coupled to the vehicle and may be controllable therefrom.

  • Patent number: 9797571
Abstract: A method and apparatus for collecting and projecting light into a specified target illuminance. A lens may be mounted or otherwise paired to a carrier to form a lens/carrier combination, which may then be mounted to a printed circuit board containing a light emitting diode (LED). The lens/carrier combination may establish an optimum optical relationship between the LED and the lens, such that a predetermined photometric distribution of the LED is collected by the lens, while the remaining photometric distribution of the LED is rejected by the carrier. The photometric distribution of neighboring LEDs, if any, may also be rejected by the carrier so that interference light may not be allowed into any lens. A diffuser may then spread the specified target illuminance into a beam pattern that may be compliant with specific standards (e.g., Department of Transportation or Economic Commission for Europe standards).

  • Publication number: 20170256873
Abstract: A barrel type power terminal electrically coupled to a top side of a printed circuit board (PCB) with a barrel portion extending through or capable of receiving power through one of an aperture and a slot to a bottom side of the PCB. The terminal may have one or more leads, each lead electrically connected with a different pin or barrel segment of the barrel portion. A plug may interconnect with the barrel portion on the bottom side of the PCB. The terminal may be held in place by the one or more leads connected to pads of the PCB and/or by an insert.

  • Patent number: 9752749
Abstract: A lens system including one or more insertable lenses that are secured from movement relative to a protective transparent media that itself is securable to a lighting enclosure with a light source in the lighting enclosure. The insertable lenses can be removable or alternately oriented to alter the distribution of light or the projection direction of light, respectively.

  • Patent number: 9739441
Abstract: A lighting fixture for protecting and mounting an array of light sources such as LED modules. The fixture includes a frame with a first surface that arcs or curves with an arc angle of between ten and fifty degrees and an arc length of between about ten to fifteen times the arc height. A plurality of LED modules including a lens and bonnet reflector are each functionally coupled against the first surface to direct a combination refracted and reflected beam pattern, the beam pattern of each LED module having a peak luminous intensity directed substantially normally from the first surface in front of and against which each LED module is functionally coupled. The peak luminous intensity of the combination refracted and reflected beam pattern associated with each LED module has a positive angle with respect to the combination refracted and reflected beam pattern from adjacently located LED modules.

  • Patent number: 9648686
Abstract: An LED lamp is placed in service on an automotive vehicle to enhance nighttime visual ability or anywhere where increased lighting is needed. The LED lamp utilizes a multi-stage power and control design, where the LED drive current is managed by an LED constant current controller that is coupled to a microprocessor that commands the intensity value of an LED array. The microprocessor manages the light intensity of the LED array using well known pulse-width modulation control methods. The microprocessor measures the voltage of the DC power source and to detect when DC power is removed. Once this detection has occurred, the microprocessor signals the LED current controller to change the current operational mode being delivered to the LED array to the next available operational mode, or alternatively, to the next appropriate operational mode to be used as determined by software stored within the microprocessor.

  • Publication number: 20170114980
Abstract: A light fixture is provided that includes lighting components having one or more surfaces that subtend light emitted by one or more light sources into one or more corresponding subtended spans. Additional light sources are provided within the light fixture to exhibit back lighting effects that may be seen at various locations external to the light fixture and that may highlight other features of the light fixture intended as aesthetic features. Both the forward projected ray sets and the aesthetic lighting may be controlled independently of each other.
