Abstract: The invention provides a screw conveyer which has a helically wound member (23) attached to the screw which member extends from each turn of the screw towards the next turn and is of decreasing diameter along the screw.
Abstract: A screw conveyer is provided with a heat insulating casing (16) and with a plurality of pipe burners (30) arranged between a perforated bottom plate (17) of the casing and a housing (13) which contains the screw conveyer and is used for drying waste products which the conveyer feeds to a furnace (27).
Abstract: The invention provides a conveyer for receiving bed drain material from a coal-burning fluid bed combuster and consists of a jacketed water cooled casing in which is a helical flight for conveying said material, the flight being mounted on an outer tube which is supported by a bearing at one end only in cantilever fashion with its other end within the closed end of the water cooled tube, an inner water cooling tube being located within the outer tube for water to circulate through the inner tube and back through the outer tube.
Abstract: Stuffing box, comprising two hollow annuli spaced apart and adapted to surround a shaft spaced from it, the annuli having annular flanges projecting towards each other. A flexible tube is provided having its opposite ends seating on the annular flanges and secured thereto in gas-tight manner, and a rigid tube is situated within the flexible tube and spaced radially from it and adapted to surround the shaft and to be spaced from it. A radially inwardly extending flange is provided at one end of the rigid tube, together with packing rings within the rigid tube, and a tubular presser member is situated in the other end of the rigid tube. Means is provided for supporting the presser member and urging it into the rigid tube to compress the packing rings against the flange.
Abstract: A stuffing box to surround a shaft projecting from a container and comprising a casing containing an annular bellows which serves to provide for gyratory or like movements of the shaft.
Abstract: An inclined helical conveyer has a container containing a rotary shaft carrying a helical flight which has openings cut out of the flight adjacent the shaft serving to separate liquid from particulate material as the latter is conveyed up the conveyer.
