Abstract: A transfer boom assembly for transferring workpieces in a workpiece manufacturing environment such as for example in an automobile manufacturing and assembly facility and which includes a quick disconnect device having nestable interfitting coupling parts for releasably connecting and/or disconnecting one or more workpiece transferring and/or fabricating units from its associated boom assembly.
Abstract: A dimensional measuring and checking machine mounts a bridge structure (12) on legs (22) which are supported on a base (10) by air bearings. The varying forces due to travel of a probe mounting carriage (24) create vertical displacements of the bearings and movement of the bridge (12) out of alignment. To compensate for this, and thus enable high accuracy measuring, a chain (34) moves with the bridge (12), rotating a spindle (42) at one end of the machine, and thus moving the legs (22) at that end so levers (48) and pivot blocks (52) vary the height of the bridge (12).
Abstract: In inserted blade rotary end mills having tapered blades inserted in axially extending tapered sockets. The improvement of providing longitudinal interfitting serrations on opposed surfaces of both the inserted blades and sockets to prevent twisting of the blades in the sockets.

Abstract: A diamond dressing tool including a tool holding head member and supporting shank having cooperating conical bearing surfaces urged together in tight frictional engagement by spring means operatively mounted therebetween. The head member is so mounted on the shank to permit its longitudinal movement along the shank bearing surface.
