  • Patent number: 4653694
Abstract: In an intermittent type swirl injection nozzle including a nozzle body having a through hole and a spray hole, a needle valve inserted into the through hole, and a partition member of a cylindrical shape fittedly and fixedly inserted into the through hole, a gap area between the needle valve and the partition member is increased in accordance with the lift of the needle valve. For this purpose, a tapered portion and a top end face are provided on the partition member in a manner that they contact with a tapered portion and a step portion provided on the needle valve when the needle valve is in a position to close the spray hole. The resultant injection nozzle has a variable injection rate and spray angle.

  • Patent number: 4633830
Abstract: A direct injection internal combustion engine of a compression ignition type in which portions of an injected fuel spray which have not been evaporated are prevented from striking the walls of the combustion chamber, and the fuel spray is prevented from catching up the air around it when moving in the combustion chamber, thereby providing an engine having reduced combustion noise, reduced amount of smoke and noxious emissions, and improved fuel economy. A combustion chamber is formed in the piston substantially in the form of a spherical cavity gradually narrowing towards the opening of the cavity at the top surface of the piston. An air intake mechanism swirls intake air supplied to the combustion chamber. A swirl injector injects a fuel spray substantially in the form of a hollow cone having a velocity component in a direction tangential of the central axis of the nozzle.

  • Patent number: 4522172
Abstract: A direct injection internal combustion engine of a compression ignition type uses swirl injection nozzle having relatively small penetration and relies on the combination of an intake swirl and compression squish flow as well as a substantial fuel spray angle to uniformly distribute fuel throughout the interior of a throttled combustion cavity recessed in the piston.

  • Patent number: 4471608
Abstract: A rotor type open-end spinning unit in which in order to prevent blowing of air to the rear of an outlet of a fiber transporting channel formed in a spinning body and impingement of an air stream from the fiber transporting channel against the back face of a separator, the rear end of the outlet of the fiber transporting channel on the central side of a rotor is expanded forward of an imaginary line, connected between the rear end of the channel outlet furthest from the center of the rotor and the center of the rotor, and the angle .alpha. between the face of the fiber transporting channel confronting the combing roller and the plane intersecting the axis of the rotor at a right angle is made substantially equal to the taper angle .theta. of the back face of the separator.

  • Patent number: 4375672
Abstract: During analysis, sensors are connected to portions of an engine and thereabout and a starter driven by an auxiliary battery incorporated in a system. An engine of a motor car and electrical systems thereabout are automatically diagnosed by use of a computer to discriminate the good or bad condition thereof, whereby the results of diagnosis are outputted as a print out and a fault point or points is indicated by an indicating device. The indicating device successively shows in graphic display the contents of working performed by a worker in the predetermined order of working. Additionally, an engine drive control section automatically sets the analyzer in one of modes including an engine stopped mode, a cranking driven mode, an idling operation mode and the like in accordance with point or points of diagnosis of the vehicle being diagnosed.

  • Patent number: 4271799
Abstract: A knocking control device having a knocking detecting circuit for detecting, as an electrical signal, an amount of variation corresponding to an internal pressure variation within a cylinder of an engine due to an engine knocking; an averaging circuit for converting the electrical signal from the knocking detecting circuit to a signal corresponding to a knocking energy; a crank angle detecting circuit for detecting a rotation phase of the engine; a comparison circuit for comparing the output signal corresponding to the knocking energy of the averaging circuit with a reference value defining a knocking allowable level to obtain a control signal for maintaining an engine knocking strength in a predetermined range; and an ignition control circuit connected to an ignition circuit, for controlling the ignition timing of the ignition circuit by the control signal from the comparison circuit.
