Abstract: A system for improving accuracy of application of a fluid to a desired area of an object which is moving transversely to the direction in which the fluid, e.g., an adhesive, is emitted from a nozzle via an electrically actuated valve. Photoelectric or other such detecting means are positioned in known distance from the nozzle to generate a signal in response to presence of fluid at that position. The delay time between detection of the moving object at a predetermined position and generation of the signal to open the valve is varied commensurately with the time period between generation of the valve-opening and fluid-detection signals of the preceding cycle. The variable delay time thus reflects more accurately the actual electrical and mechanical response times of the valve as opposed to an estimated, fixed delay time. A second detector may be spaced a predetermined distance along the path of adhesive flow from the first detector to provide measurement of fluid velocity.
Abstract: A finish reamer adapted to finish ream bronze-based valve guides and valve inserts is disclosed. The reamer includes a body section having a plurality of spiral flutes formed therein. The flutes define a plurality of cutting blades. Each cutting blade has an axially extending radial relief formed therein, and a land with a margin having a non-uniform width that is smaller near its leading end and larger near its trailing end.
Abstract: A golf club having a crown of such an improved strength that it can be thin-walled. A head 1 is hollow and metallic. A number of depressions 26 are formed by forging, for example, on nearly an entire area on an outside surface of a crown 1a of the head 1. Thus, the strength of the crown 1a is improved, thus enabling it to be thin-walled. Accordingly, the head 1 can be large-sized, with its center of gravity being lowered.
Abstract: This invention is to improve cam structure that can maintain precise moving time between a printing plate and a printing pad in a pad printer. Cam disk moving horizontally during the printing process and other cam disk moving vertically along the printing pad were combined to the double side of one cam in this pad printer of the invention. Therefore, the structure was simplified and miniaturized.

Abstract: The present invention provides a process for the manufacture of a product essentially containing amylose from vegetable materials, in particular from peas. To this end, the flour is mixed with an alkaline decomposing agent, and then a separation into a liquid protein phase and a solid phase containing polysaccharide is performed. The solid phase is then re-suspended and subjected to several sifting steps, followed by at least one washing step and subsequently a drying step. From such polysaccharide material, in particular from amylose, any kind of moisture-resistent, flexible, and in particular biodegradable articles can be produced by means of conventional plastics technologies, in particular the injection molding technique. A particular advantage of the present invention resides in the fact that the thermoplastic polysaccharide material, which is produced from renewable raw materials, can also be processed into sheets which in turn can then be worked with conventional plastics techniques.

Abstract: An apparatus for assessing cardiovascular status of a mammal comprising a system for locally applying a pressure to an artery, capable of restricting blood flow through said artery, a wideband external pulse transducer, having an output, situated to measure acoustic signals proximate to said artery, and a computing device receiving said output for calculating, based on said output, a peripheral vascular impedance value. The systolic and diastolic pressure are determined by an appearance and disappearance of a high frequency signal upon changes in cuff pressure partially occluding arterial blood flow. The arterial pressure waveform is estimated by measuring the wideband acoustic emissions from a non-occluded artery. The peak and trough of the arterial pressure waveform are calibrated with the determined systolic and diastolic pressures.
