  • Patent number: 5033158
Abstract: An apparatus for washing position oriented stoppers in a closed environment while retaining the orientation comprises a closed chamber, and a chain conveyor located in the closed chamber for receiving position oriented stoppers. The chain conveyor includes two spaced chain wheels, and a chain passing over the chain wheels. A plurality of dogs are fixedly attached to at least some of the chain links. The chain conveyor defines curved portions around the chain wheels and straight portions therebetween. A supply conveyor communicates with the closed chamber at a location of one of the chain wheels. A washing station is located along one of the straight portions and a closed delivery member is in communication with a closed chamber at the other chain wheel. The dogs grip each stopper between two adjacent dogs and carry them along the straight portions of the conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4987726
Abstract: An apparatus for aseptically filling and sealing bottles with a liquid preparation includes a plurality of treatment stations in which bottles are successively placed in bottle holding devices, evacuated and flushed or rinsed with an inert gas, filled with the liquid preparation, sealed and removed from the bottle holding devices, all in a system which is sealed from the exterior. The transporting system is adapted to provide a successive, relative movement between the bottles in the holding devices and the treatment stations. The system, which is sealed from the exterior, is provided with known sealing lock arrangements for the sterile introduction of empty bottles, liquid preparation and connections for the discharge of filled and sealed bottles, all while maintaining sterile conditions in the apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4968299
Abstract: A dual-chamber cylinder ampoule is used for the mixture of a sensitive, solid medicament, with liquid which is caused to flow calmly through the medicament in order to avoid any shaking and mechanical influence. The mixing is preferably carried out at a pressure above atmospheric. An injection device for the preparation of an injection solution and a following injection of such solution includes first and second tubular members for enclosing and holding a dual-chamber cylinder ampoule, in which the dry medicament is kept separated from the liquid. When the two tubular members are being screwed together the liquid is calmly and gently mixed with the dry medicament and dissolves it, and the resulted solution can thereafter be injected by means of the dosage and administration mechanism, provided in one tubular member, through a needle arranged at the front end of the other tubular member.

  • Patent number: 4958649
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for treating a plurality of articles with a gaseous or liquid medium. The apparatus includes a cylindrical chamber in which the articles (14) are arranged in an ordered array in channels (16) which are configured on one or more circular plates (13) and which have substantially the form of evolvent lines which extend from the center of the plates to the periphery thereof. The plates (13) are rotatable about a horizontal shaft or axis (25) extending concentrically with the chamber, so that the articles can be successively introduced into or removed from the channels (16). A plurality of plates can be combined to form a plate pack, which is arranged for stepwise axial movement in the chamber. The apparatus is particularly suited for washing and sterilizing stoppers and capsules or caps used for sealing bottles and other containers, and the invention also relates to the use of the apparatus for this purpose.

  • Patent number: 4917880
Abstract: The invention relates to an emulsion for use as an X-ray contrast agent and containing one or more iodinated lipids emulsified in an aqueous phase. The emulsion contains one or more amino acids, fatty acids or their salts, fat-soluble vitamins and/or urea for increasing its stability. Furthermore, the emulsion may contain one or more pharmacologically acceptable oils or fats.By the stability-increasing agent, it has been possible to prepare emulsions of iodinated lipids which can be sterilized in an autoclave and be stored for a long time without the emulsion breaking.

  • Patent number: 4748116
Abstract: Peptide sequences consisting of 2-4 amino acids with high affinity and comparatively high specificity to a number of various, physiologically important proteases are known to have been synthetized before. Such sequences with an added C-terminal marker have been widely used as substrates for the quantitative determination of the kind of proteases mentioned above. The method is based on the fact that the marker is split off under influence of the enzyme and that the liberated marker possesses an easily measurable, for instance, optic property which differs from that of the original substrate. The type of markers used until today have mainly been chromophores or fluorophores which can be quantified by photometry or fluorometry. The present invention relates to a new type of markers coupled to known peptide sequences. These markers are luminol or isoluminol which in their free state can be brought to luminate intensely, but lose considerably in luminescence when they are amide-bound to a peptide sequence.

  • Patent number: RE32393
Abstract: According to the invention, the parenteral administration of water-insoluble pharmacologically active agents is enhanced wherein the agents are administered in the lipoid phase of a carrier emulsion comprising a microemulsion of a finely dispersed lipoid in an aqueous phase. The lipoid preferably has a mean particle size below 1 micron. This makes it possible to administer water-insoluble agents in high concentrations, and thus a lower dose, whereby a rapid onset of the pharmacological effect is accompanied by a markedly reduced incidence of injury to body tissues.
