Abstract: A separator unit inserted into a fuel cell having an electrolyte layer interposed between a fuel electrode and an oxygen electrode is provided with a plate like separator that separates fuel gas supplied to the fuel electrode from oxidizing gas supplied to the oxygen electrode, and a mesh like collector having an opening that forms one of a passage through which the fuel gas flows and a passage through which the oxidizing gas flows. The collector is provided to at least one side of the separator base in abutment against one of the fuel electrode and the oxygen electrode. The separator base has a coolant passage formed therein, through which a coolant is allowed to flow, and an electrode abutment portion of the collector, which abuts against one of the fuel electrode and the oxygen electrode, has an aperture ratio higher than those of other portions of the collector.

Abstract: An image data compression apparatus and image data communication system is disclosed for compressing color image data in relatively simple software process, and compressing a still or moving picture of a color image to be transmitted and/or received thereby.The image data compression apparatus generates image data having pixel data, each of which is constituted by a luminance signal and color difference signals, and generates n.times.m block data. Block components constituted by a plurality of luminance signals, color difference signals, and an n.times.m bit map representing a distribution of luminance signal components, all of which represent the generated blocks, are generated to compress the data.

Abstract: A voice-type navigation apparatus is disclosed for giving voice instructions regarding a route to be taken by a vehicle. The instructions are indicated by an audible voice. A memory is provided for storing various voice data for guiding a driver to maintain a route to be traveled by the vehicle. A voice data selection device is provided to select voice data from the memory according to the routes to be maintained. A voice output device audibly outputs the voice data selected by the voice data selection device so that a driver perceives that an audible voice is coming from a particular direction with reference to the driver. The particular direction is determined in accordance with the content of the selected voice data which represents the instruction to be given to the driver regarding the route to be taken by the vehicle.
