  • Patent number: 7098969
Abstract: The widths of those portions of a semiconductor layer 5 and a drain line 6a overlapping with it which cross an edge line of a gate electrode 2 are made smaller than the channel width of a thin-film transistor. With this measure, the overlap area of the gate electrode 2 and a drain electrode 6 is reduced. As a result, a variation of the above overlap area due to alignment errors in a photolithography apparatus used in patterning the gate lines 2, the drain electrodes 6, and source electrodes 7 can be reduced and the frequency of occurrence of display defects can be decreased.

  • Patent number: 6985195
Abstract: A reflection type liquid crystal display is formed by an interlayer insulating film having appropriate unevenness of an inseparable pattern in a picture element region and having a contact hole of a separable pattern on a drain electrode of a TFT is formed by plainly applying a photosensitive insulating resin so that it may dissolve difference in level caused by a gate electrode wiring, source electrode wiring, and the TFT, and conducting exposure and development while changing exposure amount. The exposure of the insulating resin is conducted through divisional exposure in which the inseparable pattern and the separable pattern are arranged on different masks, and the inseparable pattern is exposed by a predetermined exposure amount of 20 to 80% of an exposure amount for the separable pattern.

  • Patent number: 6980192
Abstract: An integrated circuit including a liquid crystal display has a multi-port data output section from which output signals are arranged with respect to a data input signal. Points of changing the signals with respect to a time base are set with time delays that lag behind one another during one period of a reference internal clock signal to reduce the number of simultaneous changes of output signals. The electromagnetic field noise is reduced by a LCD driver when display data are transferred from a LCD timing controller to a source drive IC. The driver includes TFT drive and display timing control circuits that transfer red, green and blue color display data formed of plural bits to the TFT drive circuit for each bit unit formed of plural bits, optionally selected from each of the color display data. A delay unit in the display timing control circuit delays the transfer timing among bit units. A dedicated IC supplies image data to a source driver IC that drives a display section.

  • Patent number: 6805468
Abstract: A prism member is interposed between an LED board and a light incidence surface of a light guide plate. The prism member includes a prism sheet consisting of minute prisms that are arranged along the LED board and that have a function of refracting light that is emitted from each LED and thereby inputting, to the light incidence surface, refracted light that is scattered to both sides in the longitudinal direction of the light incidence surface. As a result, chrominance or luminance unevenness can be prevented even if the distance between the LED board and the light incidence surface is short.

  • Patent number: 6777973
Abstract: A cross line is formed on the surface of the peripheral portion of an electrode substrate so as to cross a source line array with a gate insulating film interposed in between. If a display failure such as a line defect is found in a dynamic operating inspection that is performed after mounting of a driver LSI, a crossing portion of the cross line and a source line as a failure occurring position is irradiated with YAG laser light, whereby the source line concerned and the cross line are connected to each other. Then, an output waveform of the driver LSI is measured by contacting a prober that is connected to an oscilloscope into contact with a cross line electrode.

  • Patent number: 6776512
Abstract: To replace an old lamp unit, first, resilient projections are pushed outward through engaging holes of a resin frame with some tool and the lamp unit is pulled out through a lamp unit guide hole. Then, a new lamp unit is inserted with the resilient projections deformed to the lamp side by utilizing their resiliency. When the lamp unit is inserted to the regular position, the projections are opposed to the respective engaging holes of the resin frame and return to their original shapes because of their resiliency to go into the respective holes. As a result, the lamp unit is positioned with respect to the resin frame and fixed to the latter. Even when external impact acts on the liquid crystal display device, the lamp unit does not fall off.

  • Patent number: 6747621
Abstract: The invention relates to a liquid crystal display device, comprising a memory that delays a current display data supplied to a liquid crystal panel by one display period, and a reference table memory that holds a reference data containing multiple reference values determined by the current display data and a delayed display data. Here, the reference table memory has a compensation signal data written in advance, which substantially completes an optical response of the liquid crystal panel within the one display period. The liquid crystal display device supplies the inputted display data after having been converted always into a compensated signal level data to the liquid crystal panel, thus achieving a high-speed response that is completed within the one display period.
