  • Patent number: 4785937
Abstract: A packaging material for a retortable pouch comprises a laminated base film formed by laminating together a polyester film and an inelastic polypropylene film, a laminated cover film formed by laminating together a polyester film and an aluminum foil, and an adhesive layer detachably bonding the polyester film of the laminated base film to the aluminum foil of the laminated cover film, thereby laminately bonding the laminated cover film to the laminated base film. When the retortable pouch is heated in a microwave oven, the laminated cover film having the aluminum foil is removed from the laminated base film, whereby microwaves generated by a magnetron are not intercepted, and cooked food packaged in the retortable pouch can be heated adequately.

  • Patent number: 4783176
Abstract: A liquid container generally includes a main container body and a liquid delivery unit secured thereto. The main container body is formed of a flexible sheet and has an opening at its upper end to which the liquid delivery unit is sealingly secured. The liquid delivery unit includes a mouth portion positioned outside the main container body, a joining portion positioned below the mouth portion, a conduit portion extending from the joining portion toward the interior of the main container body, at least two flanges disposed above the joining portion, and at least two ribs positioned between the flanges. The ribs project in a direction perpendicular to front and rear surfaces of the main container body and extend in an axial direction of the conduit. The conduit is formed with a plurality of slots positioned inside the main container body and adjacent the upper opening.

  • Patent number: 4778058
Abstract: Disclosed are a pouch for containing a material therein, a laminate film for the pouch, and a method for producing the pouch. The laminate film comprises a first plastic layer and at least one second plastic layer on which said first plastic layer is laminated. The first plastic layer is partially subjected to surface roughening treatment prior to the lamination, and surface irregularities are filled with a plastic material of the second plastic layer. In a pouch having substantially rectangular shape, at least one folded portion is provided at a side edge of the pouch. The surface roughened portion is positioned at and around the folded portion and at an external surface of the pouch. In one embodiment, the folded edge is provided at one side of the pouch and a heat sealed portion is provided at the other side edge thereof. In another embodiment, folded portions are provided at both side edges of the pouch and a heat-sealed portion is provided at a rear central portion thereof.

  • Patent number: 4718778
Abstract: A liquid container is made of a flexible film and a delivery device is securely attached to the container in such a way that a conduit portion of the delivery device extends into the interior of the liquid container. An opening is formed in the cylindrical wall of the conduit portion adjacent to the sealed top of the container. When the delivery device is used as a straw, the opening is closed with the wall of the container because of its flexibility. When the content in the container is poured into another liquid receptacle, the opening is used as an inlet so that the content of the container can be completely emptied.

  • Patent number: 4442129
Abstract: In the sealing of a glass container containing a product such as a food product by means of a cover comprising a metal foil having on one surface thereof a sealant layer of a thermoplastic resin, the opening end of the container is preheated, and the cover is placed on the opening end, after which the cover is pressed against the opening end successively by a heating plate and a separate pressing plate. By this process, a positive seal and a high sealing process efficiency are obtained even when the container content is a product such as a heated liquid food product and even when the rim surface of the opening end of the container has some projecting irregularities.

  • Patent number: 4390552
Abstract: A heat-sealing sheet material can be obtained by forming, on one side of a sheet base material such as aluminum foil, a sealant layer composed of a graft copolymer comprising a trunk polymer of a 20 to 60% saponification product of an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer having a vinyl acetate content of 15 to 45% by weight and a branch polymer of an unsaturated carboxylic acid in a proportion of 10% by weight or less of the partially-saponified product. This sheet material exhibits excellent heat-sealing strength with respect to glass containers, and, moreover, there is almost no decrease in the sealing strength even when the material has been in contact with water. Accordingly, the sheet material is suitable as a sealing material for the opening rims of glass containers for water-containing food products such as jams and pickles.
