  • Publication number: 20040225741
Abstract: A teleconference system is large-scale. In the present invention, an IM server provides instant message service to a first client, a second client and a content providing device. The first client adds position information of a first cursor to an instant message and transmits the instant message to the content providing device. The content providing device transmits an instant message including the position information to the second client which displays the same content as the first client. The second client draws a third cursor at a position on the content specified by the position information. Accordingly, a conference or a meeting with a person at a remote location can be carried out by a relatively small system architecture.

  • Publication number: 20040146914
Abstract: BLAST search was done on the EST database by using various nucleotide sequences encoding known bromodomain motifs to discover several ESTs likely encoding bromodomain genes. Next, testicular cDNAs were PCR cloned by using primers designed based on the sequence of EST (W17142), which is one of the ESTs discovered above. By using the thus obtained PCR product as a probe, the testicular library was screened. The obtained cDNA clone was used as a probe to re-screen the testicular cDNA library, thereby successfully isolating a full-length cDNA corresponding to EST (W17142). The protein encoded by the thus isolated cDNA had, in addition to the bromodomain, several regions and domains conserved in transcription regulatory factors. Moreover, the protein interacted with proteins associated with the chromatin-mediated transcriptional regulatory mechanism and a transcription co-activator.

  • Publication number: 20040086933
Abstract: A novel gene was unexpectedly isolated in an attempt to isolate a gene specifically expressed in immortalized cells via antibody screening using an antibody raised against a protein occurring specifically in immortalized cells. The gene thus isolated shares no sequence homology with the entries deposited in the database and was strongly expressed in skeletal muscles and undifferentiated cells. The protein encoded by this gene inhibits the differentiation of myoblasts into myotubes. It also inhibits the transactivation function of p53, a transcription factor involved in tumor suppression.

  • Publication number: 20030083470
Abstract: A database search using the sequence of transcriptional regulator “RING3” having a bromodomain identified an EST sequence that is highly homologous with RING3. Using primers prepared based on the EST sequence, a gene encoding a novel transcriptional regulator having a bromodomain has been successfully isolated from a human testis cDNA library by polymerase chain reactions. The results of analysis of the isolated gene revealed that this gene is expressed strongly in testis cells with a potent proliferative ability. The use of the above transcriptional regulator and its gene enables screening candidate compounds for factors interacting with the transcriptional regulator or drugs controlling the activity of the regulator.

  • Patent number: 5611772
Abstract: An air massage device which allows for a uniform massage treatment upon a human body. This is accomplished by having a person lie upon an air-mat divided into three distinct sections, with each section corresponding to either the upper, middle or lower region of the human body. Within the upper and middle sections are a plurality of air-bags which can be inflated and deflated independently of each other. In order to massage one of the regions of the human body lying upon the mat, the air-bags within one of the mat sections are inflated and deflated in such a sequence that an inflation/deflation frequency of all the air-bags contained within that section of the air-mat will be equal over any set period of time. In this manner, a uniform massage is assured as each air-bag within the section will inflate and deflate an equal number of times.

  • Patent number: 5534940
Abstract: An apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display can receive and adjust to image signals from one of a plurality of image signal formats such as those of the HDTV and NTSC systems, and includes plural shift registers, a sampling and holding (S/L) circuit and a Y driver. When receiving an image signal in the HDTV system, the shift registers receive and shift that image signal in series, and supply each bit data shifted thereby in a horizontal period to the S/L circuit. When receiving an image signal in the NTSC system, the shift registers are functionally divided into one for shifting that image signal and the other for shifting another image signal provided for displaying some pattern, and each bit data of these image signals is supplied to the S/L circuit. The S/L circuit provides the received data for driving data electrodes of the display, while the Y driver drives scanning electrodes of the display.

  • Patent number: 5520435
Abstract: A reclining legless chair comprising an interlocking headrest constructed from a framework composed of a seat frame, back materials, and a headrest frame, which allows users to automatically set the inclining angle of the headrest which is interlocked to the angle between the seat and the back of the chair wherein the latter angle can be set in one of several steps at will by a user. The framework is made from a U-shaped seat frame, back materials and a headrest frame, in which both opening ends of the seat frame are connected to the straight rods of the back materials through a ratchet and the other ends of the rods are connected to both ends of a U-shaped headrest frame through interlocking mechanisms. The framework is suitably covered with elastic materials, is finished by covering the elastic materials with external cloth and permits the headrest frame to move interlockingly with the inclining angle of the back materials against the seat frame.

  • Patent number: 5460598
Abstract: A chair-type polyfunctional automatic massager which can be used selectively for either a rubbing motion or a finger pressing motion, is driven by one motor and can provide 5 different kinds of movements selectively at will by making the starter apparatus installed in the back of a chair raise and lower. The massager is made up of a driving mechanism which can independently rotate two kinds of driven shafts depending on the direction of rotation of a main spindle rotated by a starter motor. A driven shaft is attached to a rubbing ball mechanism and another driven shaft is attached to a finger pressing mechanism, with both mechanisms linked to a starter device through a connecting mechanism provided between the two mechanisms. A raising and lowering mechanism for the unit is connected with a tapping spindle which can rotate in a forward or reverse direction and is linked to a motor for raising and lowering the unit.

  • Patent number: 5356369
Abstract: A portable vibration finger pressure massager provides finger pressure massage to a body part of the user through the turning motion of massaging balls when the motor rotates in a first direction and simultaneously provides vibration and finger pressure massage when the motor rotates in an opposite direction. A weight change structure is attached to the rear shaft of the motor and becomes unbalanced when the motor rotates in the opposite direction, thereby causing the motor to vibrate. The vibration of the motor is transferred to projections provided on the massager thereby enabling the provision of vibration massage.
