  • Patent number: 6348941
Abstract: Distortions, wherein a recording image is inclined relative to a printing plate, are removed when image data from a computer are recorded spirally in recording bands, having a predetermined band width, of a plurality of picture elements on the printing plate which is wound on a drum. Printing plate exposure apparatus comprises the printing plate being wound spirally on the drum such that an extension line of a side edge line of the printing plate is shifted a band width after one drum revolution. The printing plate exposure apparatus further includes: an exposure unit for recording the image data in the recording bands on the printing plate; a moving mechanism for moving the exposure unit by one band width along a drum axial direction relative to the drum during one revolution of the drum; and a timing mechanism for adjusting a band recording start position of the image data for each rotation of the drum so as to set a top edge line of the recording image parallel to a top edge line of the printing plate.

  • Patent number: 6247404
Abstract: A method of making printing plates for color newspaper printing almost free from causing color dislocation. The present invention includes an exposure step 12 of directly drawing a desired image on a plate material E from a plate feeding step 11 by laser beam according to image drawing signals from a computer, a development and fixing step 13 of treating the exposed surface to produce a printing plate 5 with the desired image, and a bending and boring step 14 of forming bent edge stoppers 5a, 5b at the two edges of the printing plate 5 for mounting the plate 5 on the plate cylinder 4 and at least one positioning hole 5c for positioning the plate 5 on the plate cylinder 4. In the exposure step 12, pilot marks P in a desired shape are drawn near the two edges of the plate material E at the same time that a desired image T is drawn on the image drawing area Q of the plate material E according to image drawing signals from the computer.

  • Patent number: 6151099
Abstract: A recorded image frame is distorted on the printing plate when image information or image data from a computer is recorded in the form of band strips, with a plurality of image elements dotted on each widthwise dotted line of the band, on a printing plate wound over a drum. The present invention permits an undistorted recording on the printing plate by an arrangement which includes a printing plate wound around a drum in the form of a right circular cylinder, an exposing assembly to record image information in the form of a band strip on the printing plate by means of light beam, a moving mechanism to move the exposing assembly in relation to the drum in the direction of the drum axis--by one band width per revolution of the drum--and a circuit to generate an incline distortion offsetting signal in a sawtoothed pattern having the cycle synchronized with that of the rotation of the drum with the initial writing position on the band as starting point.

  • Patent number: 4956044
Abstract: This tab surface-protective paper separating device is what removes from a tab stuck on the leading web end of a paper roll the protective paper which is attached to the outer surface of the tab except on portions along its edges; it is comprised of a table board upon which a leading web end with a tab stuck thereon is brought, a scraper which is designed to be moved transversely along the table top and is capable of being wedged into inadhesive peripheral points between the base tab and its protective paper, and a gripping claw for holding the protective paper between the scraper and itself in coordination with the wedging movement of the scraper. In seizing the protective paper between the scraper and the gripping claw, the device wedges the scraper between the tab and its protective paper with the help of ejection of compressed air. The protective paper is automatically removed from the tab as the scraper and the claw, both holding the protective paper therebetween, are moved away from the table board.

  • Patent number: 4821971
Abstract: A device for peeling and cutting off a surface portion (4c) of a paper roll (4) comprises a rotary support (1) that rotates the paper roll (4), a cutter guide (2) that reciprocally moves between positions for contacting and not contacting the paper roll surface portion, and a cutting device (3) that reciprocally moves parallel to a paper roll axis for cutting off the surface portion. In the contacting position, the cutter guide enters under the surface portion via a leading end (4a) of the paper roll when the paper roll is rotated and thereby forms a clearance under the surface portion. The cutter is inserted in the clearance and moves parallel to the paper roll axis to cut off only the surface portion of the paper roll along its entire width.
