  • Publication number: 20030196541
Abstract: An acoustic control system for an electronic musical instrument, which can obtain optimal acoustic characteristics irrespective of whether or not a low range speaker is attached to a body thereof. A piano body has high range and mid range speakers. A low range speaker is removable from the body. A stand-excluding switch designates a first speaker-use mode for using the high range and mid range speakers alone, and a stand-including switch designates a both speaker-use mode for using both the high range and mid range speakers and the low range speaker. A ROM stores stand-excluding and stand-including factors for setting acoustic characteristics in the two modes, respectively. A CPU reads one of the factors, which corresponds to the mode designated by the stand-excluding or stand-including switch. A tone generator circuit generates a musical tone signal to be reproduced in one of the modes, based on the read factor.

  • Patent number: 6548749
Abstract: Multipliers respectively multiply a tone signal supplied from a sound source and a tone signal corrected by a filter according to hearing correction characteristics by balance control coefficients generated by a control coefficient generator based on tone volume control data, and an adder adds the products to adjust the tone volume balance. A multiplier multiplies the tone signal output from that adder by a tone volume control coefficient generated by the control coefficient generator based on the tone volume control data to adjust the tone volume. Frequency characteristics for correcting hearing characteristics are given to the tone signal in accordance with the tone volume of tones to be generated, thus maintaining tone volume balance upon hearing among tone colors of tones to be generated by an electronic musical instrument.

  • Patent number: 6545203
Abstract: A front lid opening and closing assist which enables an easy and safe operation of opening and closing a front lid of a keyboard instrument. A buffer in the front lid opening and closing assist has a first damping mechanism for damping the front lid when pivoted from a neutral position to an open position, and a second damping mechanism for damping the front lid when pivoted from the neutral position to a closed position. When the front lid is pivoted beyond the neutral position, it spontaneously pivots toward the open or closed position by its own weight. However, this motion is damped by the first and second damping mechanisms, which results in a slowed pivot motion of the front lid. As a result, a user can safely open or close the front lid relative to a back lid, with only minimal force for supporting the front lid.

  • Patent number: 6534699
Abstract: A variety of instructions are inputted through different input modes on a single touch panel. Calculator 22 calculates the coordinates of the contact point on the touch panel 91. Area table 24 has a flag assigned to each area in each image for indicating that the segment is a continuous press input area. Area identifier 25 examines the area table 24 whether the contact point on the panel is in the continuous or the instant touch input area. Examined area attribute is saved in an input mode storage 26. When receiving the mode data from the storage 26 and the coordinates, a screen controller 20 switches the image to another or updates the settings and graphic item in the image. In response to the mode data of the storage 26 and the coordinate data, a parameter setting 27 modifies the parameters of the envelope or effect.

  • Patent number: 6506966
Abstract: In an erroneous opening prevention mechanism according to the present invention, a hook and a hook support are loosely engaged with one another when a front lid, folded back on a back lid, is unfolded, or laid flat. If an attempt to raise the whole lid laid flat on a grand piano main body is made, it is impossible to raise the lid due to the locking of the hook and the hook support. When the front lid is folded back onto the back lid, on the contrary, the hook and the hook support are released from one another and, therefore, the whole lid can be raised. Accordingly, the erroneous opening prevention mechanism prevents the whole lid from being raised without first folding back the front lid.
