    Abstract: A liquid treating device without any restrictions for a sludge discharge device set above a liquid tank is provided. A cyclone separator adapted to swirl liquid to subject sludge to centrifugal separation from the liquid and precipitate the sludge is connected to the circulating pump adapted to pump up liquid coolant containing the sludge discharged to a liquid tank from a machine tool. An opening/closing valve for sludge discharge is arranged at a discharge port of a sludge pot adapted to condense the sludge precipitated by the cyclone separator. A sludge discharge device to discharge only the sludge to the exterior from a sludge storage tank part adapted to store the sludge and liquid discharged from the sludge pot via the opening/closing valve temporarily is set. A supernatant liquid stored in the sludge storage tank part of the sludge discharge device in the suction side of the pump is recovered.

In a filter auxiliary agent pre-coat circuit, a filter auxiliary agent in a pre-coat tank is attached and stacked on a filter element in a filter case, and a filter auxiliary agent layer is formed. In a filter circuit, the filter auxiliary agent layer of the filter element removes sludge in the filter treatment liquid in a main tank. A backwashing circuit breaks down the filter auxiliary agent layer and a sludge layer, separates the filter auxiliary agent layer and the sludge layer by backwashing from the filter element, and circulates to the pre-coat tank. After repeating these steps a plurality of times, the filter auxiliary agent and sludge separated by backwashing are taken out to the exterior.

    Abstract: A liquid inlet opening of a cyclone filter is connected to a discharge opening of a first pump adapted to pump up untreated liquid coolant contained in a reservoir. The cyclone filter separates the liquid coolant fed by the first pump into clean liquid and dirty liquid as it swirls the liquid coolant. A clean liquid outlet of the cyclone filter is connected to the suction opening of a second pump so that liquid coolant with its pressure increased in the second pump is fed under a high pressure to a machine tool. A dirty liquid return pipe is connected to a dirty liquid outlet of the cyclone filter, with the end of the dirty liquid return pipe submerged in the liquid contained in the reservoir. A flow-directing orifice adjacent the clean liquid outlet of the cyclone filter ensures the dirty liquid flows into the dirty liquid return pipe.
