  • Patent number: 4712741
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rotation crusher which treats refuse and seeks to prevent explosions by controlling the volume of steam fed into the crusher to keep the temperature inside a main body of the crusher between about 70.degree. C. to 100.degree. C. so that the steam content may be regulated to exceed a certain value to keep the oxygen content below an explosion preventive critical value, thereby preventing completely explosions inside the crusher.

  • Patent number: 4639927
Abstract: An electric melting furnace is provided with an exit comprising an overflow dam and a downwardly extending unmolten-substances blocking plate placed inwardly of the overflow dam. The exit is positioned on or near an extension of a line connecting the center O of a furnace body and one of the furnace electrodes, the distance L in centimeters between the electrode and the overflow dam being determined by the equation: ##EQU1## where P is the electric furnace load (w) and K is a constant in the range of 16 to 25. Lighter molten substances are continuously discharged over the dam under the weight of the combustion residue. Heavier molten metals accumulate on the furnace floor and are discharged over dam by tilting the furnace body in the direction of the exit.

  • Patent number: 4563959
Abstract: The present invention relates to a step type stoker with an oscillation mechanism having: a plurality of stoker frames (2 and 2') which are installed at an interval in the upstream to downstream direction, and at least one of which forms an air supply path (5); reciprocating fire grates (3) each of which is formed with a plurality of fire grate members (8) installed in a step-like manner on a groove-shaped frame (7) equipped with an air path (6) which is in communication with the aforementioned air supply path (5) at all times; and fixed fire grates (4) each of which is formed with a plurality of fire grate members 8 installed in a step-like manner on a groove-shaped frame (7) equipped with an air path (6) which is in communication with the aforementioned air supply path (5) at all times. The fixed fire grates are arranged to be adjacent to and parallel with the aforementioned movable fire grates (3), but are fixed on the aforementioned stoker frames (2 and 2').

  • Patent number: 4519323
Abstract: The present invention relates to a velocity controlling apparatus and method to be used with a stoker type burning apparatus on a refuse incinerator which moves refuse successively by reciprocating motion of movable fire grates. The movable fire grates, which repeat reciprocating motion in a cycle of forward movement from a backward end, backward movement from a forward end and a stop at the backward end, is so controlled that the total of time Tf of the forward movement, time Tb of the backward movement, and time Ts of the resting at the backward end equals a standard cycle time Tc calculated on the basis of a predetermined frequency N (N/min.) of the reciprocating motion of the movable fire grates.

  • Patent number: 4512266
Abstract: A city refuse incinerator provided with stoker type firing equipment for combustion of city refuse has gas injectors installed low on the inside of a furnace body to inject low temperature inert combustion exhaust gas, purified in a dust collector, so that a gas curtain is formed on the inner surface of side walls of the furnace by the low temperature inert gas, thus preventing the formation of clinkers.

  • Patent number: 4495872
Abstract: In a low NO.sub.x emission incinerator a refuse supply stoker (1), a dry-ignition stoker (2), a gas generation stoker (3), and a complete combustion stoker (4) are positioned in descending stair-step fashion beneath a combustion chamber (A). In the dry ignition stoker (2) and the gas generation stoker (3) refuse is thermally decomposed under an amount of air which is less than the amount of air theoretically required for complete combustion, so that reducing gases such as CO, NH.sub.3, and the like are generated. At the complete combustion stoker (4) the residuum of the refuse is completely combusted under an amount of air greater than the required theoretical amount. Air is supplied through nozzles (7,8,9) at successive points above the flow route of combustion gas inside the combustion chamber (A) so that the temperature in the combustion chamber (A) is maintained in a range to reduce the amount of NO.sub.x generated by the combustion of gases.

  • Patent number: 4048852
Abstract: An integrating flow calorimeter for measuring and indicating the cumulative heat exchanged between a load equipment and a heat-conveying liquid circulating therethrough.A flow measuring device continuously measures the quantity of liquid circulated through the load equipment, and closes a switch for a predetermined fixed interval of time each time a predetermined quantity of the liquid has been supplied to the load equipment. The switch connects a differential temperature measuring device to an electrical power source, which can be a battery mounted integral with the meter. The differential temperature measuring device includes temperature sensors which sense the temperatures of the liquid supplied to, and exhausted from the load equipment.
