Patent number: 8509458Abstract: Information on a use situation of a portable electronic apparatus possessed by a user is acquired from an illuminance sensor, a contact sensor, and a GPS portion as use situation-acquiring portions, and a volume of a sound outputted either to a speaker provided as an internal sound-outputting unit in the portable electronic apparatus or to an external sound-outputting unit such as a headphone is controlled in accordance with the acquired information. Thus, even when a plug of the headphone falls off from the portable electronic apparatus despite an intention of the user, an unpleasant sound is prevented from being outputted from the speaker to a circumference.Type: GrantFiled: September 5, 2007Date of Patent: August 13, 2013Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha TohsibaInventors: Atsushi Nakamura, Shigeo Morimoto

Publication number: 20040170379Abstract: A hierarchical memory scheme capable of improving a hit rate for the segment containing the random access point rather than improving the overall hit rate of the cache, and a data playback scheme capable of automatically detecting positions that are potentially used as playback start indexes by the user and attaching indexes, are disclosed. The hierarchical storage device stores random access point segment information from which a possibility for each segment to contain a point that can potentially be random accessed in future can be estimated, and controls a selection of the selected segments to be stored in the cache storage device according to the random access point segment information.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 18, 2004Publication date: September 2, 2004Applicant: KABUSHIKI KAISHA TOHSIBAInventors: Hiroshi Yao, Hirokuni Yano

Publication number: 20040085734Abstract: An electronic apparatus comprises a housing for accommodating a heat generating component and a display unit supported by the housing. A heat receiving head thermally connected to the heat generating component is accommodated inside the housing. A heat radiator is disposed in the display unit. A heat receiving head and the heat radiator are connected to each other through a circulating path for circulating cooling medium. The circulating path is provided with an intermediate cooling unit. Before cooling medium heated by heat transfer by the heat receiving head reaches the heat radiator, the intermediate cooling unit forces cooling medium to be cooled.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 20, 2002Publication date: May 6, 2004Applicant: KABUSHIKI KAISHA TOHSIBAInventors: Kenichi Ishikawa, Katsumi Hisano

Patent number: 5571578Abstract: A plasma CVD device having a chamber, an upper electrode provided in the chamber, an under electrode provided in the chamber to be opposite to the upper electrode and to mount a sample thereon, and a plurality of power sources having a different frequency connected to the upper electrode. Gas is introduced into the chamber of the plasma CVD device, the gas contains at least an organic silicon compound, CF.sub.4 and O.sub.2, and has an element ratio (F/Si) of silicon (Si), constituting the organic silicon compound, to fluorine (F), constituting CF.sub.4, to be set to 15 or more. Si(OC.sub.2 H.sub.5).sub.4 or Si(OCH.sub.3).sub.4 is used as an organic silicon compound.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 1995Date of Patent: November 5, 1996Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha TohsibaInventors: Naruhiko Kaji, Riichirou Aoki, Hiroyuki Toyama, Hidemitsu Egawa, Takamitsu Yoshida, Yukio Nishiyama

Patent number: 4897132Abstract: Disclosed is a heat resistant austenitic cast steel consisting essentially of 0.03 to 0.09% by weight of carbon, 2.0% by weight or less of silicon, 3.0% by weight or less of manganese, 0.11 to 0.30% by weight of nitrogen, 6 to 15% by weight of nickel, 15 to 19.5% by weight of chromium, 0.01 to 1.0% by weight of vanadium, 1 to 5% by weight of molybdenum, and the balance of iron. The heat resistant austenitic cast steel exhibits excellent mechanical properties such as mechanical strength, elongation, reduction of area and fracture time caused by creep fracture, particularly, under high temperatures. If a turbine casing is formed of the cast steel, it is possible to increase the steam temperature and pressure.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1987Date of Patent: January 30, 1990Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha TohsibaInventors: Masao Yamamoto, Takashi Yebisuya, Osamu Watanabe, Masayuki Yamada

Patent number: 4733398Abstract: A drive circuit supplies a semiconductor laser with current pulses corresponding to an input pulse signal. A current supply feeds a d.c. bias current to the laser. A monitoring photodiode produces a light detection signal indicative of the actual laser output level. The detection signal is supplied to a subtraction device, to which the pulse signal is also supplied via a low-pass filter. The subtraction device detects the difference between the two signals to produce an error signal. Integration devices produce average value signals, which are compared by comparators with reference voltages to obtain control signals. The current supply and the current drive circuit are responsive to these control signals to independently modulate the d.c. bias current and the amplitude of the drive pulses applied to the laser, whereby the laser output level can be stabilized to remain at a constant level.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1986Date of Patent: March 22, 1988Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha TohsibaInventors: Taro Shibagaki, Osamu Kinoshita
