  • Patent number: 6547533
Abstract: A piston type compressor has a housing, a crank chamber and a drive shaft supported by the housing. A front restriction and a rear restriction are located in the housing. The front and rear restrictions restrict axial movement of the drive shaft. The front restriction restricts forward movement of the drive shaft. The rear restriction restricts rearward axial movement of the drive shaft. A first clearance is located between the rear end of the drive shaft and the rear restriction when the drive shaft is restricted by the front restriction. A second clearance is formed between the piston and a valve plate when the drive shaft is restricted by the front restriction and when the piston is in the top dead center position. The first clearance is narrower than the second clearance. The method of assembly the piston easily sets the first clearance.

  • Patent number: 6546742
Abstract: A displacement control device comprises a control valve. The control valve controls the pressure in a crank chamber. The control valve includes a valve body, and an electromagnetic actuator. A power source supplies the current to the actuator. A switch device located between the actuator and the power source. A controller determines a target value of the current supplied to the actuator in accordance with an external condition. When the target value is changed to a new value, the controller controls the switching of the switch device such that the current is intermittently supplied from the power source to the actuator before the current is set to the new target value. This permits the displacement of the compressor to be smoothly and rapidly changed.

  • Patent number: 6544004
Abstract: A compressor which has a housing defining therein a suction chamber, a discharge chamber and a crank chamber, a drive shaft rotatably supported in the housing, a first end of which penetrates through the suction chamber and protrudes from the housing, and a second end of which is disposed in the crank chamber, a single-headed piston accommodated in a cylinder formed in the housing, and a swash plate integrally rotatably mounted on the drive shaft and coupled with the piston. The cylinder is located between the crank chamber and the first end of the drive shaft so that pressure in the crank chamber acts on the drive shaft in an opposite direction of compressive reaction force acting on the drive shaft. A shaft seal is provided on the drive shaft between the suction chamber and the first end of the drive shaft in order to seal the suction chamber.

  • Patent number: 6537037
Abstract: A variable displacement compressor is operated efficiently by avoiding inefficient conditions. The compressor varies its displacement using a control valve for which an external duty control procedure is performed. A target value for controlling the displacement is determined in accordance with the duty ratio Dt of a drive signal sent to the control valve. If the duty ratio Dt is equal to or greater than a predetermined reference value DJ, the displacement is permitted to be varied corresponding to the duty ratio Dt. If the duty ratio Dt is smaller than the reference value DJ, the variable displacement control through the duty control procedure is suspended. In this case, the compressor is operated with a nullified duty ratio (Dt=0), or a minimum displacement.

  • Patent number: 6532858
Abstract: An electric compressor includes a rotary shaft that is driven by an electric motor. The motor generates driving torque. Pistons compress gas in accordance with rotation of the rotary shaft. During one turn of the rotary shaft, the times when the net load torque generated by the pistons is minimum and the times when the driving torque of the motor is minimum occur at substantially the same rotation angles of the rotary shaft. Also, during one turn of the rotary shaft, the times when the net load torque is maximum and the times when the driving torque of the motor is maximum occur at substantially the same rotation angles of the rotary shaft. The driving torque is always greater than the net load torque. Therefore, the motor need not be large to generate sufficient torque.

  • Patent number: 6529380
Abstract: In a power module provided with a semiconductor integrated circuit containing a power element such as a power transistor, etc., a radiation plate for transmitting heat from a semiconductor chip which forms the semiconductor integrated circuit to a heat sink is made of ceramics. A conductive unit is obtained by saturating the upper portion of the ceramics with Cu (copper), Mg (magnesium), and Al (aluminum). A silicon chip 11 is attached to the conductive unit 13a with solder. The lower portion of the ceramics is attached to the heat sink 14 directly or through radiation grease 15. Thus, a resultant power module has a radiation structure with the number of units and the number of steps in an assembly process successfully decreased.

  • Patent number: 6526942
Abstract: In a pressure increasing type injector, a fuel pressure increasing chamber is communicated via a pressure relief passage, a recessed portion, a communication hole, a hollow portion and a bypass passage with a pressure release portion. A ball valve disposed within the recessed portion interrupts the communication between the recessed portion and the pressure relief passage at the start of fuel injection, and communicates the recessed portion with the pressure relief passage at the end of the fuel injection. Consequently, an injection ratio is increased gently at the start of the injection, and the fuel within the fuel pressure increasing chamber flows out therefrom to a pressure release portion when the valve is closed. Accordingly, an injection port can be closed rapidly and therefore the injection ratio is lowered abruptly.
