Patent number: 9973441Abstract: The invention provides a method and system for routing broadcast messages by managing a plurality of observation tables in a wireless ad-hoc network having a plurality of nodes. The method includes receiving one or more broadcast messages from one or more second nodes at a first node and stores information received from the broadcast messages pertaining to the one or more second nodes in one or more observation tables at the first node. A maximum aposteriori probability of connectivity is then computed for the one or more second nodes based on the information in the one or more observation tables maintained at the first node utilizing Bayesian approach. Thereafter, the first node transmits broadcast messages to the one or more second nodes based on the maximum aposteriori probability of connectivity computed for the one or more second nodes from the first node.Type: GrantFiled: November 7, 2015Date of Patent: May 15, 2018Assignee: King Abdulaziz City of Science and Technology (KACST)Inventors: Amr Alasaad, Wafaa Alkhabbaz, Meshal Alshayea, Ammar Hazzazy

Publication number: 20180065882Abstract: A sintered porous cordierite-based glass-ceramic material is made using mainly three natural starting materials which are silica? sand, kaolin clay and magnesite in addition to little boric acid is described. Upon melting at 1400-1450° C., this combination of raw materials and boric acid forms transparent brown glass which after solidification by quenching is then crushed and reduced to powder having a median particle size diameter less than 65 microns. This brown glass powder is consolidated, for example by compaction, to form a green body for sintering. Sintering of the green body at temperatures between about 1000° C. and 1300° C. in the period from 1 min to 60 min to produce porous cordierite glass-ceramic material containing a 56% porosity. The said material have density, microhardness and CTE suitable for use in various technical fields such as light insulation refractor material and in filter for vehicle exhaust.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2016Publication date: March 8, 2018Applicant: King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST)Inventors: Omar Assaf Al-Harbi, Esmat Mahmoud Hamzawy

Publication number: 20170352960Abstract: A planar multi-layer assembly method fabricates a dual frequency, dual polarization phased-array antenna. A plurality of vias make up an array of double-walled wells which are connected to a ground plane. A shorted annular ring patch antenna (SARPA) is deposited at the top of each double-walled well. Fabricated coaxially and parallel to each SARPA, is an array of circular patch antennas (CPA). The inner wall of each double-walled well improves isolation of the CPA signals from the SARPA signals. Each SARPA of the array is connected to a pair of first frequency band signal vias and the CPA is coupled to a pair of second frequency band signal vias. Within each frequency band, a plurality of signal phases enable steerable polarized antenna beams.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 8, 2016Publication date: December 7, 2017Applicants: TUBIS TECHNOLOGY, INC., KACSTInventor: Ce Zhang

Patent number: 9778019Abstract: A differential polarization interferometer is provided. An interferometer performs direct measurement of phase shift of a light wave passed under an arbitrary angle through a sample composed of a transparent substrate holding a thin deposited test film, for metamaterial testing. An example apparatus has a laser source and a first polarizer, and two optically connected arms. A first arm creates orthogonally polarized components of a single output beam for a broadband non-polarizing beam splitter. A second arm has a controllable phase retarder to introduce a phase shift into one polarization component of the reflected single output beam, and a second polarizer to equalize and mix the polarization components of the reflected single output beam. This transforms the reflected single output beam into a beam resulting from interference of polarization components of the reflected single output beam. A photodetector transforms an intensity of the beam into an electric signal for output.Type: GrantFiled: November 1, 2015Date of Patent: October 3, 2017Assignee: King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology-KACSTInventors: Alexander Vasilevich Agashkov, Nikolai Stanislavovich Kazak, Vladimir Enokovich Agabekov, Marzook Saleh O Alshammari, Mohammed A Binhussain

Patent number: 9745427Abstract: Shape memory polymers (SMP) based on poly vinyl alcohol (PVA) in the presence of 2-carboxyethyl acrylate oligomers (CEA), multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and cross linked by ionizing radiation were investigated. Chemical crosslinking by glutaraldehyde for PVA in the presence of CEA and MWCNTs was also studied. Radiation cross linked SMP exhibits good temperature responsive shape memory behavior as demonstrated by thermal properties of radiation investigated by dynamic mechanical analysis. Transition temperature at Tan ? of radiation cross linked SMP decreased significantly by 6 and 13° C. due to addition of MWCNTs. The developed SMP exhibited promising shape memory behavior of radiation cross linked SMP for biomedical applications between temperatures range of Tan ?. Results on the gel fraction revealed significant reduction in swelling and increase in gelation due to chemical cross linking with glutaraldehyde. The radiation cross linked SMP reached 100% gelation at an irradiation dose of 50 kGy.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2013Date of Patent: August 29, 2017Assignee: King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology “KACST”Inventors: Ahmed Ali Basfar, Salah Lofty Ahmed Khalil
