Abstract: Using as a carbon source a long chain fatty acid which has not necessarily been efficaciously used in industry, culture of a microorganism and production of a substance by the microorganism are industrially efficiently carried out. A microorganism is cultured in the presence of a carbon source including anyone of the following compositions: (1) a fatty acid composition containing at least two fatty acids selected from the group consisting of lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid and oleic acid; and (2) a mixed composition containing at least one fatty acid selected from the group consisting of lauric acid, myristic acid, palmitic acid and oleic acid, and a fat and oil, and having a content of the fatty acid of not less than 10% by weight.
Abstract: Packing a column with a chromatography medium at prescribed compression factor, and then passing a mobile phase through the column packed with the chromatography medium while switching the mobile phase flow direction two or more times. According to the present invention, a small-diameter chromatography column packed uniformly and densely as well as a large-diameter column can be reproducibly prepared. The small-diameter chromatography column prepared in this way has the asymmetry factor of not less than 0.80 and not more than 1.80.
Abstract: According to a method of the present invention for producing a CPVC resin, the method includes the steps of: introducing chlorine into a slurry of a PVC resin in a first tank; transferring, from the first tank to a second tank, the slurry into which chlorine has been introduced; and irradiating, with UV light, the slurry in the second tank. This method improves an amount of chlorine dissolved into the slurry of the PVC resin and consequently, improves production efficiency of the CPVC resin.
