    Abstract: 4-OXO-2-(3-HYDROXY-4-METHOXYPHENYL)-2, 3-DIHYDRO-5, 6-BENZO-1, 3-THIAZINE AND PHARMACEUTICALLY ACCEPTABLE SALTS THEREOF ARE PROVIDED. The thiazine is produced by a process which comprises reducing a dithiosalicyclic acid amide of the formula ##STR1## to form the thiosalicyclic acid amide of the formula ##STR2## and reacting the resulting compound with isovanillin.
