Abstract: An electrical bridge connects to a packaged imaging sensor in the distal tip of a scope shaft. The bridge has an insulative body including a distal surface with a cross sectional size no greater than that of the packaged image sensor. A plurality of electrical contacts are arranged in an array along the distal surface of the insulative body for connecting to the packaged image sensor. Conductive paths are formed through the insulative body connecting to the electrical contacts. Wire attachment contacts connecting to the conductive paths. The wire attachment contacts are formed within the cross-sectional area of the insulative body and elongated in a longitudinal direction perpendicular the distal surface for soldering to wires oriented in the longitudinal direction. The wire attachment contacts are adjacent to respective voids in the insulative body for receiving the wires, the voids including insulative walls on two sides.

  • Publication number: 20230181019
Abstract: An endoscopic system and method for its operation are disclosed. The system comprises a light source, an endoscope with a distal light entrance surface, an image sensor capturing images through the light entrance surface and a rinsing device for providing a rinsing fluid flow for rinsing the light entrance surface, the method including the steps of receiving a sensor signal from a sensor detecting a user input starting a rinsing operation of the rinsing device, and, upon receipt of the sensor signal, changing an illumination mode of the light source from a first illumination mode to a second illumination mode and/or changing the video capture from a first video capture mode to a second video capture mode. The second illumination and/or video capture mask undesirable visual artifacts which can occur when collecting images with a rolling shutter sensors while performing a liquid flush of the light entrance surface.

  • Patent number: 11534054
Abstract: A vent assembly configured to maintain predetermined positive and negative pressure differentials between gas within a compartment and the environment, such as a compartment defining an interior of an endoscope is provided. The vent assembly includes a first housing having an upper vent and a lower vent coupled to the compartment. A piston is movable from a closed position to a first position, and from the closed position to a second position. In the closed position the piston blocks the upper and lower vents. A positive pressure differential moves the piston so as to open the vent to allow gas to escape from the compartment. A negative pressure differential draws the piston from the closed position to a second position to allow gas to enter the compartment.

  • Patent number: 10517470
Abstract: An imaging apparatus is adapted for use in an optical instrument having an elongated shaft with a transparent distal end portion. The imaging apparatus includes and image sensor assembly, a first articulating structure, and a second articulating structure mounted on the first articulating structure. First and second lateral side support structures at the lateral sides of the image sensor assembly are each mounted on the second articulating structure so as to position the image sensor assembly in an operating position in the instrument transparent end portion. The connection to the second articulating structure allows an articulation of the image sensor assembly about a lateral articulation axis extending transverse to the longitudinal axis of the shaft distal end portion. This lateral articulation is in addition to the ability of the first articulating structure to rotate about the longitudinal axis of the shaft distal end portion.
