Patent number: 5708332Abstract: A dual motor drive system particularly adapted for the drive of long printing presses provides uncoupled control of both the voltage and current provided to the motors. A current divider proportions the current provided to a main and secondary motor in accordance with a chosen ratio to maintain speed and torque in accordance with press requirements.Type: GrantFiled: August 1, 1995Date of Patent: January 13, 1998Assignee: KBA-Planeta AGInventors: Johannes Bottger, Victor Hefftler, Arndt Jentzsch

Patent number: 5142980Abstract: The pneumatic controller for detecting the presence or absence of sheets fed through a press machine includes a suction system having a suction duct in a sheet feed cylinder of the press machine and a vacuum pump connected to the suction duct, the suction duct opening onto a surface of the sheet feed cylinder on which one of the sheets contacts at least partially obstructing an air flow through the suction duct during normal press operation. To rapidly detect a sudden increase in the air flow through the suction duct caused by a missing sheet, the pneumatic controller is provided with a flow sensor (1) in the suction duct having a hot wire (16) and a surrounding protective jacket (15), and an analyzing circuit (2) connected to the flow sensor. The analyzing circuit (2) detects the temporary cooling of the hot wire (16) caused by the increase in the air flow rate and the analyzing circuit (2) detects the change of resistance of the wire and generates and amplified voltage output signal.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 1991Date of Patent: September 1, 1992Assignee: KBA-Planeta AGInventors: Johannes Bottger, Falk Buschmann

Patent number: 5134938Abstract: A sheet feeding unit for a rotary sheet printing machine which is operative for selective face printing or face and back printing with turning of a sheet rear edge and which has a turning cylinder and a printing cylinder located before the turning cylinder, includes elements located underneath the turning drum and the printing drum for conducting and guiding overlong sheets in face and back printing during a turning step on a front edge. The elements include a suction member arranged rotatably over a circular path so as to take over a sheet in a point of intersection of tangent t.sub.s, a stationary segment arch arranged equidistantly relative to the circular path under a point of intersection T.sub.4,5 of the printing cylinder and a sheet guiding cylinder and also provided with guiding rollers, and a guiding plate located above a turning point of the suction member at a distance from the printing cylinder and inside the circular path over a line of a secante.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 1991Date of Patent: August 4, 1992Assignee: KBA Planeta AGInventors: Winfried Busse, Gunter Peter, Otfried Rudolph, Arndt Jentzsch
