Abstract: A treatment system includes an dressing having a decompression layer and an occlusive layer that secures the dressing about a treatment site, and defines a treatment chamber within which the decompression layer is positioned. Operation of an air displacement device fluidly coupled to the chamber causes the decompression layer to compress away from the tissue site, resulting in a pulling force being imparted onto the treatment site. This decompression of the tissue site increases the perfusion of blood and other fluids, and advantageously may reduce swelling at the treatment site. To increase the degree of lifting of the treatment site, the decompression layer is advantageously constructed to exhibit a parallel plate effect during use of the treatment system. For example, the decompression layer is constructed having a center of stiffness located closer to an outwardly-facing surface of the decompression layer than a tissue-facing surface of the decompression layer.

Abstract: A dressing may include a manifold and a spacer fabric. The manifold may have a first side configured to face the tissue site, a second side opposite the first side, a thickness between the first side and the second side, a first portion, and a second portion. The spacer fabric may extend between the first portion and the second portion and may comprise a first layer coupled to the first portion, a second layer coupled to the second portion, and a spacer layer extending between the first layer and the second layer. The first layer and the second layer may be perpendicular to the first side of the manifold. The dressing may be configured to contract more in a first direction than in a second direction, wherein the first direction is perpendicular to an extension direction of the spacer fabric. Other dressings, apparatus, systems, and methods are disclosed.
Abstract: A system for monitoring and tracking swelling of a patient's limb includes a dressing, an imaging device, and processing circuitry. The dressing is positioned on a patient's limb over a wound and includes a pattern indicator. The imaging device is configured to obtain an image of the dressing and the pattern indicator. The processing circuitry is configured to obtain an initial image of the pattern indicator, obtain one or more subsequent images of the pattern indicator at later times, and determine a swelling change of the patient's limb using the initial image and the one or more subsequent images.

Abstract: A pneumatic accumulator may be fluidly coupled between a negative-pressure source and a dressing of a therapy system. The pneumatic accumulator may have a small volume and one or more deformable members that can deform under negative pressure, reducing the volume of the pneumatic accumulator. The pneumatic accumulator can smooth a pressure wave created by the negative-pressure source. The pneumatic accumulator may also provide additional negative-pressure storage capacity to the therapy system. For example, if a leak develops at the dressing, some of the negative pressure stored in the pneumatic actuator may be supplied to the dressing. The pneumatic accumulator may allow for reduced runtime of the negative-pressure source, leading to increased electrical efficiency.
Abstract: A decompression wrap includes an occlusive layer formed as a first strip having a longitudinal axis, a manifold layer coupled to the occlusive layer and formed as a second strip extending parallel to the longitudinal axis. The occlusive layer extends beyond the manifold layer in a first lateral direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The decompression wrap also includes an adhesive provided on the occlusive layer and configured to seal a first longitudinal section of the occlusive layer to a second longitudinal section of the occlusive layer when the decompression wrap is wrapped around a tissue site.
