Publication number: 20160196296Abstract: Methods and apparatus for deleting a plurality of documents associated with an electronic document review application are disclosed. For example, a user may specify a subset of documents that the user would like to review in an electronic document review application. The system executes a query to construct a document container that lists the plurality of documents and automatically downloads the documents and associated metadata to the portable electronic device. The system then periodically compares a current time associated with a local clock of the portable electronic device with an expiration time to determine a comparison result (e.g., is a certain document container more than 30 days old?). The system automatically deletes the document container and any of the plurality of documents that were downloaded to the portable electronic device when the comparison result is indicative of the plurality of documents expiring.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 2, 2015Publication date: July 7, 2016Applicant: kCura CORPORATIONInventors: David Bireta, Marc Zider, Casey Bubert, Charlie Connor

Publication number: 20150347610Abstract: Methods and apparatus for modifying a plurality of markup language files are disclosed. In general, web pages are renamed as they are brought in to a document review application, and a data structure is created that associates the old name of each web page with the new name of each web page. Then, all of the links in the web pages are modified to also use the new names. As a result, users of the document review application may review the web pages with functional links.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 3, 2014Publication date: December 3, 2015Applicant: kCura CorporationInventors: Gaurav Vempati, Douglas Walter Stevens

Publication number: 20150309972Abstract: Methods and apparatus for associating a document with a database field value are disclosed. For example, a user of an electronic record management system may be viewing a document and/or metadata associated with a document on a primary display, such as a desktop computer display. In addition, the user may be viewing various database fields and/or potential values for those fields on a secondary display, such as a tablet device. The user can then select certain user interface objects, such as buttons, and/or perform certain predefined user gestures, such as a left swipe, on the secondary display. As a result, one or more database fields associated with the document are populated with one or more values. For example, the user may be executing an electronic document review application on a desktop computer while coding documents using a tablet device synchronized to the electronic document review application via the Internet.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2014Publication date: October 29, 2015Applicant: kCura CorporationInventors: Sam John, Mark Zider, Charles Connor, Charles Geter, Casey Bubert, Ted Hogan

Publication number: 20150149474Abstract: Methods and apparatus for indexing and searching documents are disclosed. For example, a user of an electronic record management system may deploy a background indexing processes using a certain amount of parallel computing resources that may take several hours to complete. Subsequently, the user may change the number of computing resources dedicated to the indexing process without interrupting the indexing process. Upon completion, the indexing process creates a plurality of subindexes. The user may then deploy a background searching processes using a selected amount of parallel computing resources that may take several hours to complete. Subsequently, the user may change the number of computing resources dedicated to the searching process without interrupting the searching process. Upon completion, the searching process creates a plurality of partial search results that are combined into a final search result.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 27, 2013Publication date: May 28, 2015Applicant: kCura CorporationInventors: Andrew Henry Sieja, Keith Loren Kaminski

Publication number: 20150120926Abstract: Methods and apparatus for dynamically deploying software agents are disclosed. For example, a user of an electronic record management system may deploy a plurality of different background processes (e.g., OCR, dedup, etc.) that may each take several hours to complete. Subsequently, the user may decide to change the number of servers dedicated to one or more background process. In addition, the user may decide to deploy additional background processes. Neither of these user actions interrupts any of the background processes.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 24, 2013Publication date: April 30, 2015Applicant: kCura CorporationInventors: Daniel Wells, Kevin McCarty, Christopher Hogan, Konrad Makowski, Justin Smits

Publication number: 20140207812Abstract: Methods and apparatus for collecting electronically stored information are disclosed. In general, a processor images an electronic device to collect metadata associated with a plurality of files stored on the electronic device. For example, the metadata may include file names, file sizes dates, etc. The processor then receives selection information associated with the metadata, the selection information being indicative of a subset of the plurality of files. The processor then installs an electronically stored information (ESI) collection application (e.g., remotely via a network and/or via a thumb drive exclusively in RAM) in the first electronic device (e.g., a device running one of several different operating systems) in response to a selection of a collection initiation trigger (e.g., selection of a hyperlink or virtual button). The processor then collects the ESI. For example, the processor may collect the ESI from a hard disk or solid state drive using a collection wizard user interface.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 23, 2014Publication date: July 24, 2014Applicant: KCura CorporationInventors: Michael Alan Bean, Donald John Frey, Benjamin Sterling Jones
