  • Patent number: 5236656
Abstract: A method of injection blow molding a synthetic resin bellows product having root portions and crest portions, each of which has the axially sectional form of a circular arc, and incline portions therebetween, for example, a plastic bellows product such as a constant-velocity joint boot, a steering boot or the like. The method is capable of molding a product having a thickness uniform throughout, and particularly, root portions having little dimensional variations. The method involves firstly molding the parison root portions or the root portions plus their adjacent areas into substantially the same shape as those of a final product by injection molding during molding of a parison, and then blow molding only the crest portions and the incline portions to obtain the shape of the final product.

  • Patent number: 5147494
Abstract: A seal device is adapted to be mounted at an area of relative rotation between two mounting portions of a tire pressure-adjusting device. The seal device includes a pair of first and second seal rings which are disposed in opposed relation to each other. Each of the first and second seal rings includes a main seal of an annular shape having a radially inwardly-directed lip formed on an inner periphery of the main seal, the lip having at its distal end a lip sliding surface to which a self-lubricating thin plate for sliding contact with one of the two mounting portion. Each seal ring further includes an auxiliary seal of an annular shape having a radially inwardly-directed lip which is formed on an inner periphery of the auxiliary seal and is adapted for sliding contact with the one mounting portion, the auxiliary seal being connected to the main seal to form therebetween a closed space for holding grease.

  • Patent number: 4967609
Abstract: A flexible boot having a bellows and mount portions on both axial ends of the bellows portion at which the boot is mounted on parts of a mechanism such as an automotive constant velocity joint. The flexible boot has an anti-degradation agent make-up element made of a material which contains an anti-degradation agent and which is capable of allowing the anti-degradation agent to precipitate on the surface thereof. The anti-degradation agent make-up element is fitted on at least a portion of the outer surface of the bellows so that the anti-degradation agent precipitated on the surface of the material of the anti-degradation agent make-up element is caused to progressively immigrate into the material of the bellows thereby making-up the anti-degradation agent in the bellows.
