Abstract: A transverse pin (17) passes through an end loop (46) in a folded, multi-core (43) or single core (69), flat bungee cord (43, 69) to anchor the bungee cord within a molded base (49). The pin extends past the end loop of the bungee cord so as to restrain longitudinal movement thereof. The pin and end loop are molded into the base. The pin may comprise a transverse portion of a wire (19) forming a hook (25).

A single wire sharply folded near its center (20) into a double strand (21, 22) is bent in a semi-circle to form a hook (25). Bent ends (30, 31) of the double strand are molded into the base.

Abstract: A hand-operated cable winch (10) has a proximal handle part (12) with a pawl (16) that engages a toothed gear (21) which causes rotation of a cable (23) onto a drum. A distal handle part (13) is rotatably disposed between ends (31, 32) of said proximal part by a pivot (14). A retaining sleeve (27) slides over a spring latch (28), depressing it toward the distal part (13) as it slides by it. When the distal part (13) is rotated into working alignment with the distal part (12), a retaining sleeve (27) may slide proximally, depressing a spring latch (28) and sliding over it, into a locked position, which thereafter prevents the retaining sleeve from moving so that the winch may be operated by means of the distal handle part (13). To fold the handle, the operator depresses the spring latch (28), slides the retaining sleeve (27) distally to its inoperative position on the distal part, and rotates the distal part into a folded position.

Abstract: A conventional carabiner (11) is molded directly into a plastic base (10), with the pivoted end of a closure gate (23) being toward the base. The base may also restrain a bungee cord (9) by having the end thereof and a wire crimp (15) molded into the base, or the base may have a bungee cord passageway (40) with cleat (41), into which the bungee cord may be pulled so as to lock the base in a desired position along the bungee cord.

Abstract: A terminus (8) for a bungee cord (9) comprises a molded base (10) having a flexible loop (11) anchored by a compression sleeve secured to one end; a free end (23) of the loop has an enlargement (22) which fits through a hole (20) into an enlarged portion (17) of a slot (15), thereby to retain the free end of the loop when the loop is under tension. The loop may be plastic coated aircraft cable. One embodiment includes a cleat (28) to permit adjusting the position of the terminus on the bungee cord, but the bungee cord may be fixed to the terminus if desired.

Abstract: A package (6) includes a frame (7) into which product (34–37) is loaded from the back prior to being closed off by a card (8) which adheres to the back of the frame. The frame has openings (20–23) shaped to receive the product, each opening having retainers (50–53) extending forwardly from the edges thereof, each retainer shaped to engage a particular portion (40–42, 45) of the product.

Abstract: A terminus (8) for a bungee cord (15) has a hook (9) with a transverse axis (17) which is within a given distance of the longitudinal axis (16) of a bore (13) within the stem (10) of the terminus. A cleat (24) opens into a cord passage (20) leading to the bore (13) to permit pulling a cord (15) into the cleat (24) thereby locking the terminus in position on the cord (15). The relative axial alignment of the load in the cord (15) with the transverse axis (17) of the hook (9) prevents the load (15) from rotating the hook substantially. A land (27) adjusts the thickness of the cleat.

Abstract: A tie-down (9, 38) includes two straps (12, 21) with hooks (17, 24) secured to their ends, the other end (29) of a first strap (21) being workable with a buckle (15, 39) to provide tension. The buckle is captured in a loop (13) formed in the second strap (12), along with a soft loop (10), into which the hook (17) can be engaged so as to avoid damaging an article being restrained by the tie-down. The soft loop (10) is fashioned by stitching (33) of three contiguous layers of strap in a region (32) between the two loops, adjacent to the buckle; the stitching being perpendicular to the direction of tension (35) in the strap.
