  • Patent number: 4130029
Abstract: A drive arrangement for moving a glass panel of a window of a vehicle has a motor and an input member connectable with the motor means for moving the glass panel. The input member is rotatable in two opposite directions so as to close or to open the glass panel. At the same time, the input member is displaceable between a first position in which it is coupled to a drive shaft of the motor and is rotated by the latter, and a second position in which the input member is uncoupled from the motor so as to be rotated by hand. A lock is provided which is inoperative in the position when the input member is coupled to the motor, and is operative in the position when the input member is uncoupled from the same. When the lock is operative permits rotation of the input member for closing the glass panel, but does not permit the rotation for opening of the latter so that unauthorized opening of the glass panel is prevented. The lock is formed as an overrunning lock provided with a locking element.

  • Patent number: 4128225
Abstract: An adjustable automobile seat includes a base member, a carrier member for supporting a load, and support legs intermediate the base and carrier members. An actuating handle vertically moves the carrier member relative to the base member to thereby adjust the position of the seat. Eccentric gears are provided intermediate the base and carrier members for maintaining the torque which is necessary for turning the handle substantially constant during the movement of the carrier member.

  • Patent number: 4121802
Abstract: An adjustable automobile seat includes a pair of base members, a pair of carrier members for supporting a load, and support legs intermediate the base and the carrier members. An actuating handle is operative for vertically moving the carrier members relative to the base members to thereby adjust the height position of the seat. The support legs together with additional links form a four bar linkage intermediate the base and carrier members. The four bar linkage is operative for maintaining the torque for turning the actuating handle substantially constant during turning movement of the handle.

  • Patent number: 4094210
Abstract: A knob is used on an adjustment member rotatable about an axis and having a periphery formed with a plurality of radially outwardly open recesses. This member may be the adjustment member of a motor-vehicle seat-angle adjuster. The knob comprises an annular collar closely surrounding the periphery of the adjustment member, a plurality of entrainment formations projecting inwardly from the collar into every other recess, and a plurality of hooks each engaging axially through the remaining recesses with the member. The hooks and the formations together transmit angular force between the member and the knob which is made of synthetic-resin material as one integral piece.

  • Patent number: 4082008
Abstract: A positioning mechanism for moving a window of an automotive vehicle or adjusting the seat thereof has a pinion rotatable on a support by means of an adjustment knob and having two axially spaced arrays of gear teeth. The teeth of one of these arrays is angularly offset relative to the teeth of the other array. A lever connected to the load being moved is pivotal on the support and formed with two axially spaced racks each of which meshes with a respective one of the arrays of the pinion. The lever may be formed with a pair of axially joined plates each formed with a respective one of the racks and the pinion may have a radially outwardly extending flange projecting between these plates to insure that each rack remains in mesh with the respective array of teeth on the pinion. In addition a brake may be provided for resisting rotation of the pinion by the lever and for allowing rotation of the pinion by the shaft carrying this pinion.

  • Patent number: 3976327
Abstract: Two strap members are respectively connectable with a seat member and a backrest member and are joined for relative pivoting movement. An inner and a cooperating outer gear annulus are provided on the respective strap members in engagement with one another. A brake sleeve is provided on one of the strap members and a helical spring is located within the brake sleeve and normally frictionally engages an inner surface thereof. The spring has two inwardly angled end portions. An output member is turnably mounted within the sleeve and has a first section extending between the end portions of the spring, and a turnable control member is adjacent the output member and has a second section also extending between the end portions. A torsion spring engages the input and control members and urges the sections thereof into engagement with the respective end portions of the helical spring.

  • Patent number: 3966253
Abstract: A pair of hinge fittings is mounted at opposite lateral sides of the seat. Each fitting includes a first strap that is fixedly connected with the seat member and a second strap that is fixedly connected with the back member. A pivot connects the straps of each for relative pivotal movement. One strap of each fitting carries an arcuate gear segment and the other strap carries an engaging member which is permanently biased into engagement with the respective gear segment by a biasing spring. A control arrangement is provided which permits the engaging member to be moved out of contact with the respective gear segments. This control arrangement includes on each fitting a pivotal first arm that can be moved into and out of engagement with the respective engaging member and, when it is in such engagement, prevents the engaging member from moving out of engagement with the gear segment.
