Abstract: A method of building a fluids processing facility includes arranging a first level of modules, each module having a longitudinal axis and each containing at least one first pipe in a substantially adjacent and parallel orientation. A pipe rack module is arranged on a second higher level, such that a longitudinal axis of the pipe rack module is oriented in a direction that is substantially normal to the longitudinal axes of the first level of modules. The pipe rack module includes at least one second pipe. The at least one first pipe of each of the first level of modules is connected with each other via the at least one second pipe disposed in the pipe rack module to form a processing facility. Also disclosed is a pipe rack module which connects several piping modules in a fluids processing facility to each other.

Abstract: 1. A bitumen recovery process where the process includes the following steps: a) Drilling a single well into a bitumen deposit; b) Equipping the well with a heating element, a solvent injecting member, and a bitumen recovering member; c) Injecting the well with a solvent; d) Heating the solvent with the heating element to a vapor state; e) Mixing the solvent vapour with bitumen in the deposit; f) Draining the bitumen to the bottom of the well; g) Heating the bitumen to keep its viscosity low; h) Evaporating part of solvent entrapped in the bitumen by the heating element; i) Recovering the bitumen and traces of water from the well; j) Condensing the solvent inside the well for further mixing with the bitumen in the deposit; k) Repeating steps h through j, where the majority of the solvent does not leave the well during the process.

  • Publication number: 20120193213
Abstract: A modular portable evaporator system for use in a Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) systems having an evaporator, with a sump comprising an oil skimming weir, a short tube vertical heat exchanger including an outer shell containing the short tubes provided for lower water circulation rate. A system further having, external to the evaporator, a compressor compressing evaporated steam from the tube-side of the heat exchanger and routing to the shell side of the same exchanger, a distillate tank to collect hot distilled water, a recirculation pump to introduce liquids from the sump into the heat exchanger and an external demister protecting the compressor from liquid impurities. The evaporator system receives produced water from the process into the sump and provides cleaned hot water to the boiler.

Abstract: A transportable modular process for exploiting a remote heavy oil resource or the like using steam assisted gravity drainage technology or the like. Said process comprising transportable preassembled and commissioned modules which when interconnected adjacent said remote heavy oil resource provide the ability to exploit said heavy oil resource or the like. Each module being preassembled and commissioned at the time of manufacture with the necessary piping and electrical wiring and other essential equipment for each module prior to being transported to adjacent the resource. Each module being, when transported to adjacent said resource, able to be readily interconnected with other process modules to enable an entire SAGD process or the like to be constructed adjacent said resource.

  • Publication number: 20120048382
Abstract: A vapour recovery process for a SAGD (Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage) system for a heavy oil recovery facility, the process comprising a venturi ejector having one active inlet, one passive inlet and one outlet, the active inlet being supplied with natural gas to provide gas flow sufficient to operate the ejector, the passive inlet being connected to a mixture of vented vapours from storage tanks and low pressure equipment, and the outlet supplying fuel to a system along with the natural gas; wherein the movement of the natural gas through the ejector creates a vacuum so as to draw the vapours from the tanks and low pressure equipment into the ejector and then toward the low pressure fuel system, wherein the vented vapours are burned, instead of being released to the atmosphere.
