  • Patent number: 5338577
Abstract: A coated metal substrate with a ceramic composition and method which involves applying several layers of the following materials:a. stainless steelb. thermal shock resistant ceramic coating; andc. abrasion resistant ceramic material. Each layer of each material is applied by flame spray means to the metallic substrate which is at a temperature above 250.degree. F. but below 500.degree. F., which is then cooled to a temperature below 250.degree. F. before applying the next layer. Zirconium oxide is a preferred thermal shock resistant ceramic coating and aluminum oxide is the preferred abrasion resistant ceramic material.

  • Patent number: 4923682
Abstract: A method for producing titanium dioxide with an anatase crystal structure from a titanium oxychloride solution. Titanium tetrachloride is mixed with water to form titanium oxychloride, which in turn is mixed with an organic reagent, preferably sorbitol. The resulting solution is hydrolyzed, precipitated and calcined to form titanium dioxide with an anatase crystal structure.
