Patents Assigned to Kemira Metalkat Oy
  • Patent number: 6818582
Abstract: An adsorbent catalyst for reducing the amounts of nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide contained in exhaust or combustion gases, which catalyst adsorbs nitrogen oxides, when the exhaust or combustion gases contain in excess of oxygen, and liberates and reduces the adsorbed nitrogen oxides, when the gases contain oxygen in stoichiometric amounts or less, which adsorbent catalyst include a porous support material the surface area of which is large and which contains at least the following: a first catalytic metal, which is preferably Pt, a first NOx adsorbent, which preferably contains at least one of the following metals: Ba and Sr, a second NOx adsorbent, which preferably contains at least one of the following metals: La and Y, and a redox NOx adsorbent, which preferably contains at least one of the following metals: Ce, Zr, Ti, Nb, Mn, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu and G.

  • Patent number: 6667013
Abstract: Catalytic converter for treatment of exhaust gas from combustion engines, comprising a metal monolith (13) held together by interlocking ridges (15) between spirally wound layers without brazes or welds, with a mantle (14) held to the monolith by the same type of interlocking ridges (16), and where the mantle has an integral clamping flange (17) which is clamped between the exhaust manifold (12) and an exhaust port (11) of the engine block (10).

  • Patent number: 6497130
Abstract: A method for corrugating a metal foil (11), which together with a longitudinally flat foil (12) is intended to form a foil package pervious to liquid or gas, where the folds are made with a very small fold radius by rolling in at least two steps between rollers (42, 43) disposed in pairs, the fold radius (51) being large and the fold height (52) low in a first step, and after the final step, the fold radius (53) is less than 10%, preferably 2 to 5% of the fold distance (55), and the fold height (54) is greater than after the first step.

  • Patent number: 6267932
Abstract: A catalytic converter reactor includes a substrate body and a very thin sheet metal mantle strip encircling the substrate body. The substrate body includes flat foil strips alternating with corrugated foil strips, the foil strips being wound-up to form axial flow through passages. The mantle strip has a thickness in the range of 0.1 to 0.8 mm, and is provided with radially inwardly projecting ridges received in radially outwardly open recesses of the substrate body, to axially lock the mantle strip to the substrate body.

  • Patent number: 6258328
Abstract: The present invention relates to a catalyst comprising a honeycomb (1) and a surrounding jacket, the honeycomb comprising a structure formed of a stack of metal sheets, of which at least part are profiled, and the honeycomb structure including several through-flow channels for gas. The free ends of the said metal sheets are distributed over a part (S1) of the honeycomb periphery unsymmetrically to the center of the honeycomb so that part (F1) of the honeycomb's periphery is free from the free ends of the metal sheets. The said honeycomb is attached either directly or through an intermediate layer to the said jacket over an area (L1) comprising at least part of the said free ends.
