Patent number: 5592983Abstract: A pull cord safety device has a single molded body with two members coupled by an integral hinge. The hinge allows the members to pivot from a closed position to an open position. One member receives a first knotted pull cord in a circular opening so that it is coupled to the member in both the open and closed positions. A second knotted cord is inserted in a recess formed in a rim of one member where it faces the other member. When the members move to the open position, the second cord is released. Multiple cords can be accommodated in the recess.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 1995Date of Patent: January 14, 1997Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Eugene Sartini, Dannie L. McMichael

Patent number: 5428847Abstract: A drain assembly includes a drain body, a sleeve, a shaft and a plug. The drain body has an axial bore and a transverse cruciform web mounted in the bottom of the bore. The sleeve has an axial bore that is substantially coaxial to the drain body bore. The exterior surface of the sleeve bottom end portion is threaded for engagement with a threaded aperture in the drain body web. The shaft is slidably disposed within the sleeve bore and is retained in the sleeve by a clip. The plug has a threaded axial blind bore for engagement with the threaded outer surface of the shaft top portion and a frustum-like circumferential surface that engages the drain body seating surface to seal the drain body bore. An integral handle longitudinally extending from the top of the plug provides a means for grasping the plug to axially displace the plug to open or close the assembly.Type: GrantFiled: May 13, 1994Date of Patent: July 4, 1995Assignee: The Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Edwin F. Patent number: 5143336Abstract: This invention relates to a curtain rod mounting assembly. The configuration of the mounting clip allows one or two base members to be mounted thereon. Either a curtain rod member or a valance extender can be inserted into the base member. A plurality of valance extenders can be used to increase the distance that the curtain rod bracket is from the window. The base members valance extenders and curtain rod mounting brackets are provided with means that allow for precise and simple positioning of the curtain rod mounting bracket from the window frame.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1990Date of Patent: September 1, 1992Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Dannie L. Patent number: 4955421Abstract: This invention relates to a continuous cord roll up window blind. This continuous cord roll up window blind has an endless cord that engages and causes a sprocket to rotate. The sprocket in turn causes a take up spool to rotate. When the take up spool rotates, a take up cord, which is wrapped around the window covering material, either wraps around or unwraps from the take up spool, depending upon which way the take up spool is rotated. This in turn causes the take up cord to raise or lower the window covering material. A take up cord guide is positioned by the take up cord and, when the window blind is completely rolled down, limits the direction in which the endless cord can be pulled to require that the window blind be rolled up toward the interior surface of the window blind.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1989Date of Patent: September 11, 1990Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Anthony Torti

Patent number: 4919185Abstract: A headrail and bracket combination is provided in which the headrail comprises a main body portion in the form of a U-shaped channel the forward wall of which is suspended from a top plate of the bracket and also restrained against forward motion, and the rear wall of the main body is supported by a rear plate of the bracket, the bracket being adapted for mounting on a window frame. An end plate is also provided for the bracket for end mounting, which end plate can be removed from view either by breaking it off or by bending it backwardly out of sight.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1988Date of Patent: April 24, 1990Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Paul E. Patent number: 4712457Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for and method of cutting vinyl window shades mounted on a roller. The device includes jaws for clamping the roller to stabilize it during the cutting operation, a blade fixed to a wheel that revolves around the roller and that is drawn toward the roller by centrifugal force as the wheel revolves, a device for stopping the wheel if the cutting blade contacts a metal shade roller, and another device for stopping the wheel if the blades travels a predetermined distance.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1986Date of Patent: December 15, 1987Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Glenn S. Patent number: 4607677Abstract: A bracket for supporting the headrail of a venetian or pleated blind is provided with housings each having a partially open bottom and a detachable pivoting front plate to facilitate access to the interior of the bracket while mounting it on a wall, and to support the end of the headrail when the front plate is pivoted to the closed position. The housings are righthand or lefthand, but the front plate is interchangeable. The partially open bottom of the housing permits a pleated blind to be attached to one face of the headrail by means of a retaining member extending the full length of the headrail and to support the blind along a line forward of the rear of the headrail.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1984Date of Patent: August 26, 1986Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Paul E. Patent number: 4519433Abstract: Adjustable drapery traverse rods provided with a motor driven means for moving master carriers utilize a uniformly perforated drive tape and sprocket combination. Because of the perforations in the drive tape, the tape does not form a smooth curve when bent. The drive sprocket is thus adapted to allow the drive tape to lie flush against the sprocket as the tape passes over the sprocket over a wide range of tape tensions and, thereby, to drive the tape smoothly and noiselessly.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1984Date of Patent: May 28, 1985Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Paul E. Comeau
-
Patent number: 4495671Abstract: Adjustable telescoping drapery traverse rods are provided with positive drive means for master carriers comprising an essentially non-stretchable perforated drive tape and toothed drive-sprocket. Apparatus is also provided for adjusting the points of connection between the master carriers and the tape from the outside of the rod after the length of the rod has been adjusted to fit a given window (or the like) opening.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1982Date of Patent: January 29, 1985Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Paul E. Comeau, Anthony Torti

Patent number: 4471275Abstract: A motor driven drapery closure is provided with means for operating the closure between defined opened and closed positions without the use of limit switches. Means are also provided to stop the operation of the motor and back it up slightly if a significant resistance is met by the closure at a point midway of its travel or as a result of coming to the designed end of its travel. Additional means are provided for operating the closure in response to means for sensing an outside ambient condition such as the level of infrared light.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1982Date of Patent: September 11, 1984Assignee: Kenney Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Paul E.
