Patents Assigned to Kent Adhesive Products Co.
  • Patent number: 6677021
Abstract: A laminate for use in computerized automated sign making machines and the method for making the same are disclosed. The laminate is formed by adhesively laminating a clear polyester sheet to any suitable decorative backing sheet. The polyester sheet has a release coating on a surface thereof which adhesively receives a decorative face sheet. When introduced to an automated sign making machine, a movable knife cuts only through the face sheet, allowing selected portions of the face sheet to be removed to provide a sign of two decorative features, one defined by the face sheet, and the other by the backing sheet.

  • Patent number: 5178414
Abstract: A protective magazine cover consists of a pair of transparent polyester sheets secured at opposed lateral edges thereof by means of an appropriate pressure sensitive adhesive tape. A portion of the adhesive of the tape along the lateral edges thereof secures the sheets, while a portion of the pressure sensitive adhesive therebetween is adapted for making secured engagement of a magazine cover along either side of the spine thereof. In one embodiment of the invention, a tail of tape extends longitudinally from the ends thereof and is provided with a flap for making securing engagement with the inner page of the magazine.

  • Patent number: 5018765
Abstract: An auxiliary binder for booklets consists of an adhesive laminate configured as a bow tie or dog bone. In one embodiment of the invention, a polyester base sheet is adhesively coated and receives thereon a backing sheet having a strip die cut longitudinally thereon. Removal of the strip of the backing sheet allows positioning of the auxiliary binder, and subsequent removal of portions of the backing sheet allows the binder the be affixed to the booklet. In another embodiment of the invention, an adhesively coated base sheet receives a reinforced strip longitudinally along a center portion thereof. The reinforced strip has its own carrier and release liner which, when removed, allows the reinforcement to be adhered to a booklet. Subsequent removal of a liner covering the remainder of the adhesive of the base sheet allows the base sheet to be further secured to the booklet.

  • Patent number: 5017070
Abstract: An apparatus and technique for strengthening and reinforcing book bindings. A laminate having a polyester face sheet is coated on one side with adhesive. A backing sheet is releasably secured to the adhesive. The backing sheet is split down the center thereof to define a removable center strip with adjacent side strips on each side thereof. These three strips facilitate the method of application of the laminate to reinforce and secure a book binding.

  • Patent number: 4744592
Abstract: Laminate and method for protecting books using same. The laminate comprises a stiff rectangular sheet adhered through a pressure sensitive adhesive to a thin flexible transparent rectangular sheet, which is of the same height as but wider than the stiff sheet. The two sheets are juxtaposed so that 3 edges of each mutually coincide. The flexible sheet has a flexible rectangular side portion or extension to which the stiff sheet is not adhered. The stiff sheet is preferably of the same dimension as the book to be covered. To protect a book, one applies successively two laminates of preferred size so that each sheet is adhered to the outside of one book cover; and each flexible extension is adhered to the spine and the adjacent portion of the opposite cover. The back cover is preferably covered first. The laminates are cut to size when necessary. The spine and portions of each cover of a protected book have a two-ply covering, and the remaining portions of the book covers have one-ply coverings.
