Abstract: A device for interproximal separation and matrix band adaptation and retention for use in a dental restoration procedure. The device includes a pair of integral wedge elements and a pair of cushion elements that together achieve simultaneous separation, adaptation and retention. A system is also provided including the device and a matrix band. A method of preparing a tooth for restoration is also provided that includes placement of the matrix band and positioning of the device to adapt the matrix band to a tooth to be prepared and retain it in its properly adapted position while simultaneously separating the tooth to be restored from an adjacent tooth.

Abstract: The cheek and lip retractor for dentistry comprises respective cheek portions (7, 8) and lip portions (1, 2) for the upper and lower lip, said lip portions comprising a lip shield (3, 4) and mucosa pads (5, 6) which are separate and spaced apart from said lip shield, said cheek portions and lip portions being connected to each other by flexible connecting elements (9-12), and said connecting elements being disposed between said lip shield and said mucosa pad. Such a retractor allows a largely free treatment of the tooth portions to be treated and provides a comfortable fit for the patient.

Abstract: A delivery system for administering a metered dose of dental sensitivity product to a tooth includes a reservoir sized to contain a volume of the dental sensitivity product and suited to dispensing the dental sensitivity product in small quantities while maintaining stability of the dental sensitivity product. The system further includes delivery structure in communication with the reservoir and configured to deliver the metered dose of dental sensitivity product. In an exemplary embodiment, the delivery structure includes a cannula and operates to deliver the dental sensitivity product as a spray to the affected tooth when actuated by a user.

Abstract: The brush for use on a dental rotary hand piece comprises a bristle field in which the length of the bristles decreases from the external radius of the bristle field towards its center. A brush of this kind allows improved finishing, polishing, and cleaning of interdental spaces and fissures in the chewing surface.

Abstract: The interdental wedge is particularly intended for use in the insertion of approximal fillings of light-curing synthetic materials and consists of a combination of a wedge body and an underlying compressible sole comprising a rim which projects on both sides of the wedge body. The sole portion is preferably made of a thermoplastic elastomer and the wedge body of a translucent synthetic material. A wedge of this kind provides a strong spreading force, and the two rims are deformed when inserted, thereby ensuring a firm retention and a tight application of the matrix to the dental anatomy, and they form sealing lips in order to keep away the saliva from the treated area and to gently displace the papilla.

Abstract: The medical instrument for the application of liquids to teeth includes a handle portion and a treating portion, the treating portion comprising a highly elastic sponge. In a preferred embodiment, the treating portion is connected to the handle portion by a ball joint. The use of a sponge allows an optimum application of the liquid on and in cavities without leaving residual material. The presence of a ball joint allows a safe treatment also in locations that are difficult to access otherwise.

Abstract: A dental care composition for the prophylactic dental hygiene (prophylactic paste) comprises as principal components the following: from 10 to 80% by weight, preferably from 35 to 55% by weight, of a polishing body containing plate shaped rock particles, preferably perlite particles; from 20 to 80% by weight, preferably from 40 to 50% by weight, of a nonionic, preferably polymeric surface active agent; and from 0 to 20% by weight, preferably from 1 to 10% by weight, of an emulsifier or emulsifier blend. Polyethylene glycols (Macrogol) having molecular weights of from 200 to 1,000, preferably of from 200 to 600, are particularly suited as pure compounds or as a blend of different variants having different molecular weights. The dental care composition shows a smooth and soft consistency and has only a weak tendency of being splashed during its application in the mouth.
