  • Patent number: 4936736
Abstract: Transfer between a cassette (8) and a storage region formed by bar elements (10, 10') is obtained by an automatic apparatus which includes lifting blades (4, 5) passing through an interrupted bottom of the cassette, and having inclined upper edges (36, 35) to form a V-shaped notch, within which rods (33) will collect. Adjacent the cassette, a slide path is formed, extending longitudinally of the cassette, by a plurality of plate elements (14) having an upper inclined edge (17). Upon lifting of the blades (4, 5) and shifting of one blade with respect to the other, rods (33) are taken out of the V notch and can slide over the slide path. The slide path terminates at a movable stop element (24) which can slide in a path parallel to the slide path. A plurality of pivotable plate-like segments are located in the spaces between the segments of the slide path, which, upon pivoting from beneath the slide path plates upwardly, transfer rods from the slide path over the stop elements to the receiving bars (10, 10' ).

  • Patent number: 4881634
Abstract: To permit loading of elongated goods such as rails, rods, strips, or a combination of the foregoing retained in cassettes, from support shelves located on stacks positioned on both sides of a gang way or corridor in which a roller conveyor (13) is located, a frame element (5) carries thereon guide track supports (11, 12) which are positioned in essentially V configuration. Movable support elements, preferably connected by a longitudinal beam, and operated by cylinder-piston units move the goods from a raised transfer position to or from a hoist to a position out of the roller conveyor. The goods can be moved by the hoist from the storage stacks to either one of the support elements which, then, can move on the inclined tracks from the side of the roller conveyor to beneath the rolls of the roller conveyor.

  • Patent number: 4488847
Abstract: An apparatus for storing and supplying rod-shaped material to a cutting machine comprising a shelving unit including a plurality of carrier arms arranged one above another to form shelving compartments for holding rod-shaped material. A first rotatable rollway is located in the shelving unit and forms a substantially horizontal support for delivering and returning rod-shaped material to and from the cutting machine. The first rollway is vertically displaceable from a cutting machine loading position to a supplying position. A crane bridge is provided moveable with respect to the shelving unit for moving rod-shaped material from the shelving compartments to the first rollway. A second rotatable rollway is provided to form an additional substantially horizontal support for delivering and returning rod-shaped material to and from the cutting machine and the second rollway is also vertically displaceable between a supply position and a cutting machine loading position.

  • Patent number: 4342240
Abstract: A method and apparatus for periodically feeding a rod-like workpiece into a severing machine for severing predetermined lengths in a cutting plane during cutting steps alternating with feeding steps. There are provided openable and closable clamping jaws for grasping the workpiece adjacent the cutting plane during each cutting step and openable and closable feed jaws for grasping the workpiece at a predetermined distance upstream of the cutting plane as viewed in the direction of feed and advancing the workpiece through the cutting plane by a distance corresponding to the desired length to be cut. The feed jaws are, subsequent to the feeding step and the closing of the clamping jaws, but prior to the completion of the cutting step, opened and moved away from the cutting plane by an extent that corresponds to the subsequent feed stroke and are thereafter closed again to grasp the workpiece anew.

  • Patent number: 4252040
Abstract: A method of advancing rod-shaped workpieces in a feed direction in a severing machine which includes a cutting blade defining a cutting plane, openable and closable clamping jaws and openable and closable feed jaws which are displaceable in the feed direction. The method comprises the following cyclically repetitive steps: displacing the feed jaws against the feed direction from the downstream side of the cutting plane through the cutting plane to the upstream side thereof; grasping a workpiece, situated between the clamping jaws, at a location between the cutting plane and the clamping jaws; opening the clamping jaws for allowing free passage of the workpiece; pulling the workpiece by the feed jaws in the feed direction relative to the clamping jaws through the cutting plane through a distance which corresponds to the workpiece length to be severed. Upon completion of the pulling step the feed jaws are located in their entirety downstream of the cutting plane.
