Abstract: A straightedge with a holder for a writing implement includes a planar measuring surface, such as a ruler, set square or the like, with a slide track. The slide track extends along an edge of the planar measuring surface. A first end of a writing implement holder is slidably mounted within the slide track, and a second end of the writing implement holder is adapted for releasably holding a writing implement, such as a pen, pencil or the like. The writing implement holder is movable along the slide track such that the writing implement moves along the edge of the planar measuring surface. A support made from cork, rubber or the like may be located on a rear surface of the planar measuring surface.
Abstract: The microflow sensor includes a base wafer having opposed upper and lower surfaces, and a cap wafer, also having opposed upper and lower surfaces. The base wafer and the cap wafer may be formed from a semiconductor material. A flow sensing element is embedded in the upper surface of the base wafer. The flow sensing element may be any suitable type of flow sensing element, such as a central heater and at least one temperature-sensitive element. A flow channel is formed in the lower surface of the cap wafer and extends continuously between first and second longitudinally opposed edges of the cap wafer. The lower surface of the cap wafer is bonded to the upper surface of the base wafer such that fluid flowing through the flow channel passes above and across the sensing element.

Abstract: A method for treating autoimmune diseases or a disease associated with chronic inflammation can include administering to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a pharmaceutical composition comprising an Arid5a inhibitor and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. The Arid5a inhibitor can have the formula or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The disease associate with chronic inflammation can be multiple sclerosis. A screening method can include identifying candidate Arid5a inhibitors through in silico predicted binding to Arid5a target domains and confirming Arid5a inhibition through in vitro binding assays.

Abstract: The method of producing baker's yeast involves producing yeast from a substrate composed of date syrup (Dips) diluted by molasses in sufficient quantity to lower the concentration of organic acids present in the date syrup that are toxic to yeast to safe levels, preferably a 1:1 mixture (w/w) of date syrup (Dips) and molasses. The substrate is inoculated with viable cells of Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast and placed in a bioreactor or fermentation vessel. The yeast is produced by a fed-batch process to ensure continuous yeast production and prevent or minimize the production of alcohol by the yeast, additional increments of the substrate being added about hourly for the duration (about 12 hours) of the yeast propagation process. The process produces baker's yeast comparable in quality to yeast produced from a pure molasses substrate for such purposes as making bread, and in sufficient quantity to be practical for industrial production.
