Patent number: 9834999Abstract: A post hole digger couples to the power take-off (PTO) shaft of a tractor and uses rotation from the PTO shaft to rotate an auger. A top support arm rotatably coupled to the top pin of the tractor's three point hitch supports the gearbox that translates rotation to the auger. A support frame extends upwardly from the right and left lift arms of the three point hitch and inwardly to support the top support arm from beneath. The support frame is shaped generally as an inverted “U,” with space created between the right and left lift arms to prevent interference with the rotating shaft that translates rotation from the PTO shaft to the gearbox. A shield coupled to the gearbox covers the moving parts of the joint between the rotating shaft and the gearbox and protects users during use of the auger.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2012Date of Patent: December 5, 2017Assignee: King Kutter, Inc.Inventors: J. Patent number: 9456558Abstract: A stump cutter comprising a cutting head that rotates about a generally vertical axis is provided. The cutting head comprises a plurality of cutting blades that are angled with respect to a backing plate of the cutting head. At least two of the plurality of cutting blades are further angled radially with respect to a center of the cutting head, such that the centermost edges of the cutting blades extend further into a stump than the outermost edges of the cutting blades. The stump cutter is powered solely by the PTO of a tractor.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2010Date of Patent: October 4, 2016Assignee: King Kutter, Inc.Inventors: J. Phillip Fraley, John W. Davis, III

Patent number: 9422015Abstract: A trailer chassis having a lower frame or roller bogie undergirding an upper frame may be extended to adjust the length of the trailer chassis in response to the weight of a shipping container being transported. The roller bogie is slidably coupled to the upper frame along two side support tubes which have locking assemblies to allow for the locking of the bogie to the upper frame with a dual sided, retractable locking pin. Each side support tube includes a plurality of opposing rollers embedded within each tube and has an upper rotating surface that protrudes through the top surface of the support tube so that as the bogie may be freely moved backwards or forwards relative to the upper frame and can be locked into an extended or retracted position. The movement of the bogie does not affect the position of a shipping container locked onto the chassis because the bogie movement is completely under and independent from the flatbed portion of the chassis supporting a shipping container.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2013Date of Patent: August 23, 2016Assignee: King Kutter, Inc.Inventors: J. Patent number: 9163382Abstract: The gearbox lock mechanism for a post bole auger has a collar coupled to a lower end of a right angle gearbox, the collar rotatable upon operation of the gearbox. The collar comprises a semi-circular outer edge and a fiat side. A male-threaded nipple extends from the collar and threads onto the auger shaft. A lock bar is coupled to the gearbox and acts as a positive lock to lock the collar in place for removal of the shaft from the gearbox. The lock bar is rotatable from a locked position whereby the lock bar is aligned with and contactable with the flat side of the outer edge of the collar, to an unlocked position whereby the lock bar does not contact the flat side of the outer edge of the collar.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2014Date of Patent: October 20, 2015Assignee: King Kutter, Inc.Inventors: J. Patent number: 8657024Abstract: A tractor-based box blade is used to move and condition soil. The box blade has a plurality of rippers, which are forwardly- and downwardly-extending shanks terminating in relatively narrow teeth that extend into the ground. Each ripper is deployable to extend into the ground independent of the other rippers, and each ripper is stowable away from the ground independent of the other rippers. At least one scraping blade is disposed behind the rippers for smoothing soil.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2011Date of Patent: February 25, 2014Assignee: King Kutter, Inc.Inventors: J. Patent number: 8500184Abstract: A trailer has a rear gate that is closeable in a generally vertical orientation and openable in one of three orientations: the gate swings downwardly open to be used as a ramp; swings open to the left side, rotating around left hinges; and swings open to the right side, rotating around right hinges. Removal of pins from an upper left and upper right set of hinges enables rotation of the gate in the downward position. Removal of pins from the upper left and lower left set of hinges enables rotation of the gate in the right position. Removal of pins from the upper right and lower right set of hinges enables rotation of the gate in the left position. Removal of all of the pins allows the gate to be completely removed from the trailer.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2011Date of Patent: August 6, 2013Assignee: King Kutter, Inc.Inventors: J. Patent number: 5396754Abstract: An articulated arm and cutter attachment for mounting on a tractor has a pair of elongated vertical booms pivotally connected to one another at their top ends. The lower end of one of the booms is pivotally connected to a beam extending laterally from underneath the tractor chassis. The other boom has a telescoping lower end on which is mounted a foot which supports a rotary cutter. An upper portion of the beam connected to the tractor is inclined outwardly, and an upper portion of the other beam is inclined inwardly to allow the arm to reach out a substantial distance and extend over obstacles such as fences. Pivoting mechanisms in the foot allow tilting of the supported cutter over a wide range of angular positions. Hydraulic cylinders are provided for carrying out movement of the arm, along with hydraulic fluid lines and controls. Yieldable mounting of the foot provides for breaking away of the cutter upon striking an obstacle.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1993Date of Patent: March 14, 1995Assignee: King Kutter, Inc.Inventor: James P.
