  • Patent number: 7037080
Abstract: An improved fan blade is constructed from a series of wooden slats. Holes are drilled through the wooden slats and a dowel is placed through each of the holes. The dowel is preferably a wooden rod that is secured in the hole with wood glue. Alternatively, the dowels may be constructed from metal and have threaded ends that receive threaded end caps. The end caps are placed over the ends of the dowel to firmly secure the wooden slats together. The design provides improved rigidly and reduces the likelihood of portions of the fan blade breaking loose. The improved rigidity further allows the use of softer, less dangerous and less expensive materials to be used in the construction of the fan blade.

  • Patent number: 6926423
Abstract: A device and system for simulating the flicker of candle flame is provided by the present invention. A series of independent charging and discharging circuits are provided that produce power waveforms having duty cycles that vary from a highest duty cycle to a lowest duty cycle. The power waveforms are provided to a series of LEDs arranged in a vertical stack. The lowest duty cycle power waveform is provided to the highest LED in the stack and the highest duty cycle power waveform is provided to the lowest LED in the stack. An approximately flame shaped housing that is partially translucent is positioned around the vertical stack of LEDs such that the light from the LEDs is visible while the LEDs themselves are not. A solar panel and an associated rechargeable battery are used to power the device.

  • Patent number: 6872053
Abstract: Quick attachable and detachable mounting arms for ceiling fans. A first version has flat headed fasteners initially attached to one end of mounting arms, with key-hole slots in the endshield of the ceiling fan motor. The user raises the mounting arm so that the flat headed fasteners fits through the larger openings in the keyhole slots and then pulls the mounting arm outward until the arm locks in place by the smaller opening portions of the keyhole slots. Rubber type gaskets and washers help lock and hold the mounting arms in place. The flat headed fasteners can also be located on the endshields with the keyhole slots on mounting arms. A second embodiment includes inwardly deformable springably snapable fasteners that can be located on the ends of the mounting arms which can deform inwardly and expand after passing through slots on the endshield of the rotor. Alternatively, the fasteners can be located on the bottom of the endshield with the receiving slots on the ends of the mounting arms.

  • Patent number: RE39448
Abstract: A connecting device includes a bottom member with a periphery for attaching on a rotor of a motor, a circumferential wall which extends upwardly from the periphery, and a mounting arm which has an anchored end adapted for mounting the fan blade thereon and an anchoring end for anchoring on the bottom member such that the mounting arm is oriented in a radial direction relative to the bottom member by guidance of a guiding member. A tightening member is disposed to tighten the anchoring end relative to the bottom member through a clamping force generated in a circumferential direction of the bottom member when the anchoring end is pulled away from the bottom member in the radial direction. A retaining member is disposed between the tightening member and the anchored end in the radial direction, and has an engaging spring member that abuts against the circumferential wall once the anchoring end is moved away from the bottom member.
