  • Patent number: 8035756
Abstract: A simplified television remote control device with limited control features for on/off, channel selection, and volume. Volume and channel control are provided as relatively large luminescent knobs which can be turned clockwise or counterclockwise. The housing is tapered so that its pointing direction can be determined by feel. The device self-learns the limited control features from an old remote control device for the television by placing the old device nose-to-nose with the simplified device and pressing a specific sequence of controls on the old device. A photo diode senses the infrared command signals from the old device and associates those commands with the control features of the simplified device.

  • Patent number: 6927837
Abstract: A method for visually restoring a digital image that is displayed on a transparent LCD screen includes associating an array of microlenses with the LCD screen at the input face thereof, upstream from a black mask. Each of cells of the LCD is associated with a microlens of the array. A telecentric projection lens increases the sharpness and uniformity of the image during the visual restoration thereof. The angle of divergence of an incident beam of exposure or illuminating light is verified. The LCD screen or each pixel of the image displayed on the LCD screen is laterally offset at least once on the projection surface by means of a body. One or several exposures are taken of each of said offset projections.

  • Publication number: 20050045837
Abstract: A method of detecting defects, such as stains, scratches and dust, on a film in order, for example, to correct said defects while the film is being digitized, comprises advancing the film through an optical assembly comprising: on one side of the film, at least two sources of light having different wavelengths which illuminate the film in a narrow area thereof, and, on the other side of said film, a lens which projects the two images of the area illuminated by the beams from the two sources onto two linear photosensitive elements which are adapted, respectively, to the wavelengths of the two sources. Moreover, said method includes comparing the digital data delivered by the two detection elements, the result of said comparison being used to perform the aforementioned detection and correction.

  • Publication number: 20040264158
Abstract: A lamp type device associated with a reflector illuminates a receiving surface of a light guide/former. An emitting surface of the light guide/former arranged proximate to a film, has substantially the dimensions of the film zone to be illuminated. The light guide/former is a single-piece part comprising two opposite planar surfaces, whereon one is receiving and the other emitting. The invention is useful for a device providing an intense and homogeneous light beam for film scanning analysis.

  • Publication number: 20040246353
Abstract: A method of accelerating the speed of scanning an image that does not occupy an entire CCD strip of cells comprises: centering the image on the strip such that the non-used area of said strip is distributed on either side of the effective area, reducing, e.g., by masking, the light intensity in the non-used areas of the strip, such that, with each cycle, the charge stored by the storage capacitors is less than half of the available capacity; and, with each cycle, reading a number of cells that is equal to that of the sum of the cells in the effective area and those from one of the two lateral areas. The method is suitable for use in scanning film images that can take various formats.

  • Publication number: 20040245306
Abstract: A device for guiding a film in an apparatus comprises guiding and driving means engaged on the two lateral edges of the film. The guiding and driving means is further designed to force the film to follow a curved trajectory in the imaging zone of the apparatus. The means guiding and driving the film include two coaxial rollers whereon the film is urged to span through its two edges, and two parallel driving belts urged respectively to be supported on said edges on the side opposite the rollers, along an arc with predetermined sustaining angle. The invention is useful for guiding film in an optoelectronic apparatus such as a scanning analysis device.

  • Publication number: 20040238680
Abstract: A device for winding and/or unwinding a film at a constant speed includes a reel comprising two coaxial annular support areas, having the same diameter, which are separated by a concavity and which are spaced out from one another by a distance that is slightly smaller than the width of the film. The two support areas pivot freely. Guide means guide the film laterally in order to wind the film on the reel such that the lateral edges thereof rest on the two support areas of the reel respectively. Two parallel drive belts are supported respectively on said edges, along the length of an arc of circle with a predetermined angle at the center. The invention applied to a film in an optoelectronic apparatus, such as a scanning and analysis device.
