    Abstract: A method and apparatus for investigating subsurface ground of a site to obtain and store information about soil conditions by pushing into the ground a cableless unit that includes a memory storage device able to collect the information throughout the whole investigation process. After completion of the process, the memory storage device is lifted up to the surface of the ground and is connected to a data processing unit located on the ground to extract the collected information on soil conditions.
