Abstract: A method according to one embodiment includes receiving, by a control system secured to the insulated portable container, sensor data from a temperature sensor positioned within the insulated portable container, determining, by the control system, whether the sensor data is associated with a notification range, establishing, by the control system, a long-range wireless communication connection with a server in response to a determination that the sensor data is associated with the notification range, and transmitting, by the control system, a message to the server indicating that the sensor data is associated with the notification range in response to establishing the long-range wireless communication connection.
