Patents Assigned to Kluhsman Machine, Inc.
  • Patent number: 8899134
Abstract: An improved, high-efficiency wheel lug nut socket is provided for use in racing pits, in order to minimize the time required for race car wheel changeovers. The socket is designed with an inner operating surface including concave surfaces and intervening apex surfaces, dimensioned so as to permit a hexagonal lug nut to be received therein with full clearance between the inner operating surface and the lug nut outer surface. The socket is normally used with a conventional high-speed pneumatic automotive wrench.

  • Patent number: 6681621
Abstract: A tire work device (10) specially designed to facilitate tire inspection and/or diameter measurement thereof in order to permit proper inflation of race car tires to achieve a desired degree of tire stagger, or the provision of tires of different effective diameters on opposite sides of the car, so that the car will perform better on a banked racetrack. The device (10) includes an upright standard (36) supporting a pair of opposed, relatively shiftable tire mounts (38, 40) and a stop (18) serving to set the limit of possible movement between the mounts (38, 40). An inflator (16) is also associated with the device (10), and permits selective inflation of a tire (14) mounted on the device (10) to different inflation the levels. In use, a tire (14) is mounted between the mounts (38, 40), with the stop (18) having been preset on the standard (36); the tire (14) is then inflated to a desired level for inspection or diameter measurement purposes.

  • Patent number: 6338332
Abstract: A quick attach-detach carburetor linkage (10) is provided to allow connection between an automobile throttle linkage (16) and a carburetor (14). The linkage (10) includes an elongated rod (18) with attachment assemblies (20, 22) at the forward and rearward ends thereof. The assembly (20) includes a shaft (28) having a reduced diameter extension (36) with a socket (38) formed therein, together with a throttle connector (12) including a ball screw (60) which is received within the socket (38). A tubular keeper (42) is supported on the extension (36) and has a generally U-shaped slot (46) formed therein and presenting differently sized ends (48, 50). A spring (54) engages the keeper (42). When the keeper is in its locking position, the smaller slot end (50) is disposed adjacent socket (30) and prevents separation of the ball screw (68) and socket (38).

  • Patent number: 6164680
Abstract: A hitch socket cover (12) is provided which is adapted to be releasably secured in covering relationship over the open end (16) of a hitch socket (10). The cover (12) includes a face plate (20) and a rearwardly extending marginal sidewall (24); the face plate fully covers the open end (16), whereas the sidewall (24) extends rearwardly in closely adjacent relationship with the sidewall (15, 18) of the socket (10). One or more threaded set screws (26, 28) extend through the sidewall (24) to releasably yet securely lock the cover (12) in place.

  • Patent number: 5954318
Abstract: An adjustable coil over suspension assembly (10) for use in high-performance racing vehicles is provided which includes a central, telescopically intermitted suspension assembly (20) with an elongated coil spring (22) disposed over the assembly (20) and extending along the length thereof. Spring adjusting means (24) is provided for selective adjustment of the compression of spring (22) and includes a threadably mounted body (46) bearing against one end of the spring (22) and carrying a detent device (36, 56) for permitting rotation of the body (46) through a predetermined arc with seating of the body (46) after each such rotation. Accurate adjustment of the assembly (10) is assured because the operator can readily determine through perceptible "clicks" the degree of spring compression change during rotation of the body (46).

  • Patent number: 5536402
Abstract: Improved high capacity fluid filter assemblies (10, 58) especially adapted for racing vehicles are provided. The assemblies (10, 58) include an elongated, rigid tubular outer casing (12) with endmost fittings (22, 60, 24) permitting flow of fluid through the casing (12). An elongated filtering element (14) formed of sintered bronze is located within the casing (12) and has a length at least three times the maximum outer dimension of the filtering element (14). In order to promote flow of fluid through the filtering element, a continuous fluid zone (52) is provided within the casing (12) outboard of the filtering element (14). A secondary sintered bronze filtering member (54) may be secured within the outlet end fitting (24).
