  • Patent number: 10502207
Abstract: A sealing system for a high pressure pump operable above 15,000 psi includes a first engagement face formed as part of the vessel and defining an opening into the vessel bore, the first engagement face having a concave cross-section. A seal member is at least partially received within the bore and defines a second engagement face, the second engagement face having a convex cross-section. A retaining member is coupled to the seal member and is operable to move the seal member from an initial contact position with the vessel to a sealing contact position, wherein the first engagement face and the second engagement face define a first contact angle with respect to the axis in the initial contact position and a second contact angle that is greater than the first contact angle in the sealing position.

  • Patent number: 9163617
Abstract: A high-pressure fluid pump is operable to pressurize a fluid and includes a hollow stud including a first end, a second end, and a cylindrical space extending between the first end and the second end and a housing fixedly coupled to the first end of the hollow stud. A high pressure cylinder is disposed within the cylindrical space of the hollow stud. The high pressure cylinder includes a bore that extends from a first end to a second end of the high pressure cylinder. A seal head is engaged with the first end of the high pressure cylinder to define a seal therebetween and an end cap is coupled to the second end of the hollow stud and the seal head. The end cap is operable to apply a compressive force to the seal head to compress the seal head against the cylinder and to apply a tensile load to the hollow stud. A plunger is movable within the bore to pressurize the fluid in a space defined by the piston, the seal head, and the high pressure cylinder.

  • Patent number: 8783146
Abstract: A cutting head for a high pressure water jet cutting assembly includes a body having an inner chamber and an aperture that extends into the inner chamber. A focusing tube is removably insertable within the inner chamber along a longitudinal axis. An engagement member is at least partially disposed within the aperture and movable between a first position and a second position in which a portion of the engagement member is disposed within the inner chamber. A retaining member is engageable with the body and movable with respect to the body to bias the engagement member into engagement with the focusing tube to retain the focusing tube within the inner chamber and to align the focusing tube substantially along the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 7922566
Abstract: A cutting head for a water jet cutting machine includes a base with a bore and an orifice member having an inlet, an outlet, and a passage extending between the inlet and outlet which increases velocity of fluid flowing through the passage to form a fluid jet. A wear insert has first and second ends, a passage extending between the two ends, the body second end being connected with the base and the body first end supporting the orifice member. A fluid focusing device includes a tubular body with a central passage having inlet and discharge ports, the tubular body being disposable within the base bore such that the body inlet port is fluidly coupleable with the orifice outlet. The tubular body and/or the base are/is configured such that the tubular body is separately positionable at one of a plurality of discrete, predetermined angular positions about the base bore axis.
