Patent number: 5165446Abstract: A single-lever mixing valve has a housing, a cartridge fixed in the housing and having an actuating element pivotal about an element axis for adjusting flow through the cartridge, and an actuating shaft centered on the element axis, fixed in the actuating element, and having a first end formed with an axially open threaded bore and an opposite second end formed with an axially oppositely open grooved seat. The ends of the shaft are generally flush with an outer surface of the cartridge. An actuating lever has first and second connecting pins extending along the element axis and juxtaposed with the respective ends of the shaft. A screw projecting through the first pin and threaded into the bore of the first shaft end fixes the first pin to the first shaft end relative to the element axis. An adapter has an inner end nonrotatably fitted but axially displaceable in the grooved seat of the second shaft end and an outer end juxtaposed with the second pin of the actuating lever.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1992Date of Patent: November 24, 1992Assignee: Knebel & Rottger GmbH & Co.Inventors: Helmut Mols, Norbert Ronzon

Patent number: 5152308Abstract: The closed position of a valve having a valve member that can be rotated by an electrical motor that in turn is connected to a potentiometer furnishing an output corresponding to valve position is determined by first energizing the motor so as to close the valve and monitoring the current consumption of the motor. The instantaneous current consumption of the motor is continuously or periodically compared with a set point corresponding to motor current consumption of the motor when stalled and the potentiometer output is recorded in a nonvolatile memory generally when the instantaneous motor current consumption exceeds the output so as to establish the corresponding position as the motor closed position. Then the motor is de-energized and from then on the recorded position is used as the full-closed valve position.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1991Date of Patent: October 6, 1992Assignee: Knebel & Rottger GmbH & Co.Inventor: Werner Koch

Patent number: 4784180Abstract: The invention comprises a mixing valve assembly with a cold and hot water inlet, a mixing chamber, and a mixed water outlet, wherein the mixed water temperature is adjustable by rotation of the actuator, and wherein a constant water flow can be set by axial depression of the actuator. More reliable operation is achieved, along with simplifications in manufacture and installation, by having on the assembly a locking device for the actuator, so constructed that when the actuator is depressed it is held by the locking device in the new position but is released when again depressed.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1987Date of Patent: November 15, 1988Assignee: Knebel & Rottger GmbH & Co.Inventor: Gunter Sieberhagen

Patent number: 4700885Abstract: The improvement of a mixing valve for plumbing in which three ceramic valve discs with appropriate control ducts are positioned parallel to one another in reciprocally watertight manner, in a housing with one hot water and one cold water inlet and one outlet, the disc on the inlet side being a stationary bearing disc, while the second disc rests against this first disc and can be turned from outside in order to control the quantity of flow, and the third disc can be slid linearly against the second disc for temperature adjustment by means of a manually adjustable thermostat that operates laterally to the disc axis, said improvement to be achieved in such manner that flow regulation can be simplified, a motor regulator capable of rotating engages with the second disc, the shaft of which said regulator fits into the stationary disc in a rotating manner and is immovably connected with the second disc, and the regulator can be adjusted by means of an electronic and individually adjustable flow regulator.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1986Date of Patent: October 20, 1987Assignee: Knebel & Rottger GmbH & Co.Inventor: Peter Knebel

Patent number: 4694512Abstract: In order to achieve a fully automatic, electronic adjustment by means of a process for controlling a plumbing combination set with a multi-disc mixing valve for hot and cold water, whereby temperature is adjusted by making a comparison between the actual temperature of the mixing water and the target temperature of the mixing water, it is proposed that the actual mixing value be constantly measured and that a factor for the regulator of the appropriate mixing valve adjustment disc be derived from the target/actual divergence, and that at the same time the preselected flow of the mixture can be maintained at a constant level without measurement of the flow quantities, a correction factor being derived from the factor of the aforementioned adjustment disc for the factor of the flow adjustment disc regulator.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1986Date of Patent: September 22, 1987Assignee: Knebel & Rottger GmbH & Co.Inventors: Werner Knebel, Gunter Sieberhagen

Patent number: 4693415Abstract: In a method for control of a sanitary mixer for cold and hot water, merely the actual temperature is continuously measured in the mixed water and compared to a preset temperature. At least two separate, time-varying regulating values, used for electromechanical adjustment both of the cold as well as of the hot water supply, are electronically derived from the difference between the set and actual temperature. A preset flow rate of the mixed water that is to be kept constant during temperature control is taken into account in the determination of the regulating values. Furthermore, partial flow rates for the cold water supply and hot water supply that are proportional to the regulating values can be determined from the time-varying regulating values. These are then used to continuously determine the instantaneous cumulative filling volume of the mixed water. As soon as a cumulative filling volume value equal to a preset cumulative filling volume is reached, the cold and hot water supplies can be shut off.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1986Date of Patent: September 15, 1987Assignee: Knebel & Rottger GmbH & Co.Inventor: Hans-Josef Sturm

Patent number: 4674678Abstract: To simplify and improve the functioning of a plumbing mixing fixture with a hot and cold water intake, a mixing chamber, and a mixing water outlet, in which the quantity of the flow and the mixing temperature are regulated by means of valve discs that can be adjusted by motor, a multi-disc mixing valve that adjusts both the quantity and the mixing temperature one after another is installed.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 1986Date of Patent: June 23, 1987Assignee: Knebel & Rottger GmbH & Co.Inventors: Werner Knebel, Gunter Sieberhagen
