Patents Assigned to Kness Manufacturing Co., Inc.
  • Patent number: 5918410
Abstract: A baiting device for treating insects includes a stem having a hollow upper end with a first opening therein and a second opening therein longitudinally spaced downward from the first opening. A bait container mounts on the stem and surrounds the first opening without covering the second opening. A lid detachably secures to the container so as to seal the interior of the container from direct communication with an outside environment except through the first opening and the second opening and the hollow upper end of the stem. A valve member slidably mounts on the stem and slidably moves by gravity from a first position unobstructing the first opening to a second position obstructing the first opening so as to prevent spillage of bait from the container when the container is tipped upside down.

  • Patent number: 4912872
Abstract: The animal trap of the present invention includes a housing having a top wall, a bottom wall, a closed rear end, and a door opening at the forward end. A door is hinged at the upper edge of the door opening and is adapted to swing downwardly by gravity from an open position to a latched position. A trip treadle is located near the rear end of the trap and is connected by a rod to the door. When the animal depresses the trip treadle, the rod releases the door so the door can fall from its open to its closed position. A latch mechanism is connected with the door which causes the door to automatically latch and be held in its closed position whenever the door falls by gravity from its open to its closed position. The latch may be opened without exposing the operator's hand to the vicinity of the cage, thereby making it safer to release the animal.

  • Patent number: 4711049
Abstract: An animal trap comprises a base frame having an upper surface and a jaw member pivotally mounted on the base for pivotal movement from a cocked position to a sprung position, the jaw member having at least one horizontal bar extending transversely of the base. Spring means yieldably urge the jaw member to the sprung position. A catch member is pivotally mounted on the frame also and includes a catch pawl for retentively engaging the bar of the jaw member to hold the bar in its cocked position. The catch member is pivotal away from retentive engagement with the bar to release the jaw member so that it can return to its original position. A trip member is also pivotally mounted on the base, and is movable to a set position engaging the catch member to hold the catch member against the bar when the bar is in its locked position. The trip member is movable to release the catch member which in turn releases the bar and permits the jaw member to pivot to its sprung position.
