Abstract: A modular furniture unit can be configured to provide power distribution in conjunction with other furniture features. Embodiments of furniture arrangements may utilize one or more modular furniture units to provide one or more of such features (e.g. storage, seating, privacy, work surface, lighting, etc.). In some embodiments, the modular furniture unit includes an elongated upper member having an upper slot that has a first end and a second end opposite its first end. At least one leg is attached to the first end and at least one leg is attached to the second end. The elongated upper member may have a channel through which power cabling passes and outlets that are connected to such cabling. Different elements can be connected to the upper member via the upper slot or a downward facing opening of the upper member and/or to the legs to provide different furniture arrangements.

Abstract: A privacy screen apparatus can include an upper member having a first end and a second end, at least one first leg connected to the first end of the upper member, at least one second leg connected to the second end of the upper member, and a bendable body connected to the upper member adjacent to a first edge of the body and adjacent to a second edge of the body to define a pouch or channel below the upper member. Cords, cables, or wiring can be positioned in the pouch or channel. The bendable body may also hang from the upper member to provide a visible barrier to provide privacy.

Abstract: An article of furniture can include a base attached to a frame to support the frame on a floor. A tabletop may be attached to the frame. The frame and/or the tabletop may be attached to a folding mechanism so that first and second sections of the tabletop are moveable so that the tabletop is adjustable from an unfolded position to a folded position and vice versa. The folding mechanism may include a plurality of spring elements connected to a plurality of hinges that are configured to help control an amount of force needed for adjusting the tabletop's position and the rate of speed at which the tabletop is rotatable between its folded and unfolded positions.
Abstract: An article of furniture can include a latch mechanism. The latch mechanism can include an actuation mechanism having a housing that is moveable relative to a guide member from a first position to a second position, at least one detent mechanism comprising a first detent mechanism having a first detent member that is moveable from a first position to a second position, and an articulation mechanism positioned between the actuation mechanism and the first detent mechanism. The articulation mechanism can connect the first detent mechanism to the housing such that motion of the housing from the first position of the housing to the second position of the housing causes the first detent member to move from the first position of the first detent member to the second position of the first detent member.

Abstract: A seating device can include a seat and a base connected to the seat to support the seat. A tilt mechanism can be connected to at least one of the base and the seat. The tilt mechanism can include at least one of (a) at least one seat connecting member connecting the seat to an upper portion of the base, (b) a plurality of resilient fingers that are attached to the base to engage a floor and flex in response to a user providing a force while sitting or leaning on the seat, and (c) an elastomeric floor engagement member that is attached to the base and has a bottom peripheral portion that contacts a floor and is flexible in response to a user providing the force. In some embodiments, the tilt mechanism may include all of elements (a)-(c).

Abstract: A cord management system for furniture includes an elongated flexible member having a plurality of cable clip elements attached thereto for attachment to multiple cables to retain the cables near the elongated member. The elongated flexible member is resilient and is configured for attachment to an article of furniture, such as a table, that is vertically moveable from a first lowered position to a second raised position. For example, when the article of furniture is in the raised position, the elongated member can be extended to a first position in which the member resembles an “S’ shape, a “?” shape, a “” shape, or a backward “S” shape, e.g. “” shape and when the article of furniture is in the lowered position, the elongated member can be compressed to a curved compressed configuration that is “{tilde over ( )}”, “” or “” in shape.
Abstract: A seating device can include a height adjustment mechanism that permits a height of a seat to be adjusted. The height adjustment device can be configured so that a user may provide a force to provide upward height adjustment and may also provide a force to allowing for a controlled downward height adjustment of the seat. The height adjustment device can include an actuator that is connected to a rotatable member via linkages. An end of one of the linkages may engage the rotatable member to prevent rotation of the rotatable member, which can prevent height adjustment of the seat. Movement of the actuator may cause the linkages to move so that the rotatable member is free to rotate so that a user may provide a force on the seat to effect height adjustment of the seat and/or cause the seat to be lowered at a desired speed.

Abstract: A support apparatus for supporting multiple display devices includes an elongated member having at least one groove and/or spline positioned in a rear surface of the elongated member. A connector is attached to the rear surface of the elongated member adjacent a central portion of the rear surface. A first display device collar is attached to the elongated member adjacent a first end of the elongated member and is slideable along the groove or spline of the elongated member from adjacent the first end to adjacent the connector. A second display device collar is attached to the elongated member adjacent a second end of the elongated member and is slideable along the groove or spline of the elongated member from adjacent the second end to adjacent the connector. Display device mounting devices are pivotally connectable to the first and second display device collars for attachment to the elongated member.
Abstract: A chair includes a backrest swivel mechanism that is configured to permit the backrest to swivel about a vertical axis about a preselected range of motion. The backrest may be configured to swivel, or rotate, about a vertical axis that is defined by an element located adjacent a rearward central location that is below the seat of the chair and adjacent a rear of the chair. A lock mechanism can be selectively engaged to lock and unlock the swiveling mechanism so that when in the locked state, the backrest cannot swivel and when in the unlocked state, the backrest can swivel. In some embodiments, the range of swiveling motion may be with a predefined range, such as +/?10° or +/?20° of rotation relative to a central position of the backrest.
Abstract: An armrest for a chair includes a first slideable member moveably positioned within a support post and a second slideable member moveably positioned within the support post. The first slideable member is moveably positioned within a channel of the second slideable member such that the first slideable member is moveable relative to the second slideable member. An actuator is connected to the first and second slideable members. The actuator can optionally be included that is actuatable from a locked position to an unlocked position. The first and second slideable members are immovable within the post when the actuator is in the locked position and the first and second slideable members are moveable within the post when the actuator is in the unlocked position.
Abstract: An article of furniture includes a structure having a surface that supports a weight. The surface may be tiltable from a first position in which the surface is flat or substantially horizontal and a second position in which the surface is substantially vertical. At least one leg rotating mechanism may attach at least one leg of the article of furniture to the surface so that the at least one leg is rotatable about a vertical axis when the surface is tilted. In some embodiments, the article may be a table and the surface may be a tabletop. In other embodiments, the article may be a chair and the surface may be a seating surface of a seat.
