Patent number: 10589729Abstract: A pressure-limiting valve has a valve housing, a piston, a pressure-limiting adjustment spring, at least one inlet and at least one outlet. The piston can assume an open position in which the inlet and the outlet are connected to each other and a closed position which separates the inlet and outlet. A first piston ring has a sealing surface and has a small pneumatic active surface relative to a second piston ring. Between the first and second piston rings the piston has a substantially truncated cone-like portion which tapers toward the first piston ring. In the closed position, the sealing surface of the first piston ring is sealingly drawn against a housing collar by a pneumatic force acting counter to the force of the pressure-limiting adjustment spring. A pneumatic passage for creating a safety valve function closable by a spring-loaded safety valve body is provided in the piston.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2018Date of Patent: March 17, 2020Assignee: KNORR-BREMSE Systeme fuer Nutzfahzeuge GmbHInventor: Isa Aydemir

Patent number: 9546593Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for regulating stable operation of an exhaust-gas turbocharger of an internal combustion engine having a fresh-gas supply device, a switchover valve, a control device, a compressor for generating compressed air and an air-processing unit with a discharge valve. The compressor is operated in a suction intake mode in which the compressor is connected to an air inlet, and based on monitored operating parameters, the switchover valve switches the compressor from the suction intake mode into a pressure-charged in which the compressor is connected to an exhaust-gas turbocharger compressor. Based on monitored operating parameters when in the pressure-charged mode, the switchover valve switches the compressor from the pressure-charged mode into the suction intake mode.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2013Date of Patent: January 17, 2017Assignee: KNORR-BREMSE Systeme fuer Nutzfahzeuge GmbHInventors: Manuel Marx, Guang Rao

Patent number: 8220595Abstract: A brake pad for a disc brake, in particular for a utility or commercial vehicle, including a pad retaining spring which is designed as an arc-shaped leaf spring, can deflect radially and is fastened by way of a hood to a lining carrier plate which supports a friction lining material. The hood is formed as a separate component and has a section which is U-shaped in cross-section. A web of the hood connects its limbs which limbs are guided in parallel and at both sides of the lining carrier plate. The web bears against the pad retaining spring. The pad retaining spring is designed such that an opening is formed through which a limb of the hood is guided.Type: GrantFiled: February 13, 2009Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: KNORR-BREMSE Systeme fuer Nutzfahzeuge GmbHInventors: Jose Camilo-Martinez, Mario Springer

Patent number: 8196718Abstract: A combined service brake and the stored-energy brake cylinder is provided, in which a ventilation valve which forms or shuts off a flow connection between the spring chamber and the service brake chamber of the brake cylinder ensures that disruptive noise is avoided while also preventing loss of air volume for building up the service brake force.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 2006Date of Patent: June 12, 2012Assignee: KNORR-BREMSE Systeme fuer Nutzfahzeuge GmbHInventors: Nicolas Savagner, Antony Schodrowski

Patent number: 8142556Abstract: A compressed air supply device for a utility vehicle includes a valve housing and an air-drying cartridge, wherein compressed air can be supplied to the air-drying cartridge via the valve housing. The compressed air flows through the air-drying cartridge in a first direction of flow. An electrically controllable valve is provided in the valve housing, which ensures a return flow of compressed air counter to the first direction of flow through the air-drying cartridge for regeneration purposes. A valve that can be controlled pneumatically by the electrically controlled valve is provided in the valve housing, via which compressed air can be supplied to the air-drying cartridge for regeneration purposes.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2009Date of Patent: March 27, 2012Assignee: KNORR-BREMSE Systeme fuer Nutzfahzeuge GmbHInventor: Eduard Hilberer

Patent number: 7926626Abstract: An adjusting device for adjusting the wear of the friction surface on the brake lining and brake disc of a pneumatic disc brake having a clamping device that is actuated by a rotary lever is provided. The device preferably can be inserted into a rotary spindle of the disc brake. An anti-friction body is positioned on both axial sides of a drive element, with the one bodies being a ramp coupling with a freewheeling function. The ramp coupling has coupling bushes and clamping balls, and the coupling bush on the driven side being supported on a spring sleeve. A conical seat is configured between the coupling bush and the sprung sleeve cooperates with the ramp coupling to preclude locking of the coupling bushes.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2007Date of Patent: April 19, 2011Assignee: KNORR-BREMSE Systeme fuer Nutzfahzeuge GmbHInventor: Johann Iraschko

Patent number: 6629587Abstract: A spring-loaded piston is produced from plastic, particularly by injection molding. The spring-loaded piston is developed in the area of a connection to a piston or piston rod such that tilting of the spring-loaded piston with respect to the piston rod is prevented and a sufficiently firm connection is ensured. In addition, the spring-loaded piston 1 may include a reinforcing insert by which clearly higher forces can be transmitted while maintaining smaller wall thicknesses than in conventional spring-loaded pistons. Also, the seat or contact surface in the spring-loaded piston is constructed for supporting the preloaded spring such that possibly occurring radial forces do not have any negative influence on the functionality of the spring-loaded piston.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2002Date of Patent: October 7, 2003Assignee: Knorr-Bremse Systeme fuer NutzfahzeugeInventor: Damien Gravier
