  • Publication number: 20140260583
Abstract: A tire uniformity testing machine includes an upper spindle including an upper rim portion, a lower spindle including a lower rim portion, and a spindle actuator such as a servo actuator adapted to vary a distance between the upper and lower spindles along a y axis. The tire testing machine also includes a conveyor adapted to move an associated tire to be tested along an x axis in a conveying direction. The conveyor is driven by a conveyor actuator said as a servo actuator. A motion controller is provided and receives x axis position feedback indicating a conveying distance moved by the conveyor along said x axis and that uses the x axis position feedback to control the spindle actuator to vary the distance between the upper and lower spindles along the y axis according to a function y=F(x) for coordinated synchronous variation of the distance between the upper and lower spindles along the y axis in response to movement of the conveyor along the x axis.

  • Patent number: 5866170
Abstract: A vertical tire press has a lower mold fixed to a lower platen mounted on a base, and an upper mold facing the lower mold and fixed to an upper platen mounted on a top slide. The top slide is moved vertically by a crank mechanism, thereby closing together or opening apart the upper and lower molds. The lower or upper platen has a cylinder structure so as to squeeze together the upper and lower molds. This vertical tire press basically employs a crank mechanism, but is free from disadvantages peculiar to a tilt-back type tire press. The vertical tire press provides good economic performance as well as advantages of an oil-hydraulic type tire press, i.e. uniform application of a squeezing force and easy adjustment of the squeezing force, without using an oil-hydraulic cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5782560
Abstract: An internal mixer and controller enables the phase difference and the speed ratio between two rotors to be changed without stopping the operation of the mixer. The internal mixer comprises: nonintermeshed first and second rotors disposed in a mixing chamber; first and second drive units; first and second phase measuring devices; first and second speed measuring devices; and a control unit for controlling the first and second drive units on the basis of signals from the first and second speed measuring devices and signals from the first and second phase measuring devices. The control unit controls the two rotors so as to synchronously rotate at the same speed on the basis of the signals from the speed measuring devices when the two rotors fixedly rotate at the same speed.

  • Patent number: 5744169
Abstract: A tire press in which a pair of upper and lower molds are opened/closed and squeezed by an operation of a crank mechanism is disclosed. Especially, the tire press is improved in the aspects of its machine accuracy, strength, size, and maintenance. The tire press has: a pair of upper and lower molds; a base for supporting the lower mold; side frames on both sides of the base; a side slot vertically extended in each of the side frames; a top slide which slides along the side slots and holds the upper mold; and a crank mechanism for moving the top slide only in the vertical direction. The crank mechanism includes: a crank gear; a lever attached to the crank gear and whose front and is positioned on the outer side of the outer diameter of the crank gear; and a link connecting a crank fulcrum at the tip of the lever and the top slide sliding along the side slots. The side slot vertically extends parallel to a vertical central line crossing the center of rotation of the crank gear and the crank fulcrum.
