  • Patent number: 7273222
Abstract: A towing device (1) for towing vehicles has a tow bar (8) movably mounted about at least two axes of rotation, and at least one mechanical drive (13) for moving the tow bar between an operating position and a position of rest. The drive has a mechanism (14) for generating an at least partially superimposed movement of the tow bar about both axes. The preferred features include the axes of rotation being positioned at right angles to each other. The mechanism is designed as a gear unit (21) coupling the pivot axis (16) and the axis of rotation (18). The rotational movement of the tow bar about the axis of rotation is derived from the pivoting movement of the tow bar or a housing (19).

  • Patent number: 5950496
Abstract: The hand brake lever 1 mounted rotatably at a stationary frame 4 engages with two lever arms 10 to a slide 11, which surrounds a tie rod 15 and is to displace same along its longitudinal axis via a silent ratchet. At least one cable line 6 is linked to the tie rod 15. The silent ratchet includes two clamping pieces 14 made of a plastic or other material, which are located between the side surfaces of the tie rod 15 and of the slide 11, which side surfaces face each other. The clamping pieces 14 are pressed via wedge surfaces 20, 21 against the tie rod 15, and opposite teeth 16, 19 lead to positive locking. • Patent number: 5848554
Abstract: A multistep spindle drive is provided for converting a rotary movement into a linear movement with different speeds of withdrawal and extension. The spindle drive includes at least two threaded spindles, which telescopically mesh with each other and are in threaded connection with one another, and a nut. The inner threaded spindle is connected to a crank, and the nut is connected to a support wheel via a pipe. The internal threaded connection existing between the threaded spindles has a smaller diameter and a lower pitch than the external threaded connection existing between the outer threaded spindle and the nut. The speeds of withdrawal and extension are changed over based on the greater frictional force. A friction-increasing coupling member is arranged between the threaded spindles. The coupling member is spring-loaded and can be set for changing the friction.

  • Patent number: 5283506
Abstract: The operation of a driving system for a cigarette packing machine, wherein the driving system has a rotary main drive and several slave drives electrically connected to the main drive, is controlled in such a way that any selected slave drive can be disconnected from, decelerated to zero speed, accelerated from zero speed to normal speed and reconnected into the drive system in predetermined angular positions of the main drive. Each slave drive transmits motion to one or more movable parts or units of the packing machine in such a way that the movable parts do not clash even though they are movable and do move relative to each other.

  • Patent number: 4968178
Abstract: A device for bridging over expansion joints of a roadway includes a matting of elastomeric substance placed over spaced elements of a joint to bridge the same. The matting has longitudinal portions held in grooves provided in retainer profiles positioned along the edge of each element of the joint. The longitudinal portions of the matting have ribs which fit into the grooves of the retainer profiles and fill the grooves so as to leave an anchoring space between the bottom of each groove and the ribs. The matting has holes which connect the upper surface of the matting with the anchoring space. The holes are filled with elastomeric synthetic resin casting which also fills the anchoring space.

  • Patent number: 4730359
Abstract: A device for controlling the spacing of the plates on a bridging arrangement for expansion joints in bridges or the like, in which device one or more plates run parallel between edge beams defining the expansion joint and are mounted on cross-members bridging the expansion joint. The plate is coupled to the two edge beams, or each plate is coupled to an edge beam and an adjacent plate or to two adjacent plates, by means of resilient members arranged to act in shear. Each resilient member is secured by one end to an edge beam or a plate and by the other end to a connector that is resilient to bending. Each connector connects the resilient members of an edge beam and a plate or of two plates to one another. All the plates are connected to one another and to the edge beams by one or more continuous control chains comprising shear springs and connectors.

  • Patent number: 4537003
Abstract: An elastomeric sectional strip, for sealing an expansion joint on a building. Each edge of the strip is thickened for engagement in a corresponding one of a pair of grooves bordering the joint edges and is characterized by a three-point mounting of its thickened edge region inside each of said grooves. Each three point mounting is constituted by:(a) a bulge on an upper side of the edge region, in which case said bulge is located inside said groove adjacent its opening;(b) a shoulder projecting in the form of a wedge into said groove in the opposite direction to the insertion direction on an underside of said edge region, in which case after complete insertion, said shoulder bears against a corresponding stop face of the groove and(c) a camber on said upper side of said edge region close to its outer end.

  • Patent number: 4516284
Abstract: In the case of a bridging arrangement for expansion joints in the carriageways of bridges or the like having a plurality of parallel plates (1-5) which are adjacent to the surface of the carriageway, run at right-angles to the direction of the carriageway and are supported on bars (6-10) which bridge the joint gap and are displaceably mounted in the edges (14, 15) of the joint, each plate is rigidly connected to two or more bars, but each bar is rigidly connected to not more than one plate. The spacings of the plates is controlled by means of elastomeric bearing members (19), the bars being supported by bearing members of that type that are on one or both of the plates and the two outer bars being supported likewise by bearing members of that type which are on the two edges (14, 15) of the joint, each on a different edge. This type of arrangement of the bearing member described results additionally in an especially even distribution of the vertical loads.

  • Patent number: 4502561
Abstract: In normal tractor-trailer combinations consisting of a tractor vehicle and a trailer vehicle such as motor caravan, the zig-zag and side-to-side movements of the trailer vehicle adversely affect the handling behavior of the tractor-trailer combination. This effect is substantially reduced by displacing the effective coupling point towards the center of gravity of the tractor vehicle without altering the distance of the trailer vehicle from the tractor vehicle. However, since this position of the effective coupling point is not accessible for structural reasons, the hitherto customary ball-headed coupling part located at the rear of the tractor vehicle is kinematically bridged by connecting two joints associated with the tractor vehicle to two joints associated with the trailer vehicle via connecting bars to form a four-joint arrangement such that the straight lines running in the longitudinal direction intersect at the desired effective coupling point.

  • Patent number: 4080088
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a joint-edge element for expansion joints in roadways wherein the anchoring parts, that extend in the longitudinal direction of the joint, just as the remaining parts of the joint-edge profiled element, are joined in one piece to the joint-edge element. At least one profiled part of the joint-edge element is produced by dividing the double profiled element in two profiled halves. Joint-edge elements having the double length of the particular extrusion casting or rolled element are produced through a single operation of extrusion or rolling.A particularly expedient embodiment is produced in such a manner that the anchoring parts are formed by parting a connecting portion of the double profiled element. The parting operation can be performed without considering the precision of manufacture, with relatively low expenditure.
